{"id":91379,"date":"2023-09-26T23:45:33","date_gmt":"2023-09-26T20:45:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/?p=91379"},"modified":"2023-09-26T23:48:32","modified_gmt":"2023-09-26T20:48:32","slug":"ebrd-earmarks-e34-5-m-loan-for-greening-moroccos-pharmaceutical-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/ebrd-earmarks-e34-5-m-loan-for-greening-moroccos-pharmaceutical-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"EBRD earmarks \u20ac34.5 m loan for greening Morocco\u2019s pharmaceutical sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/en\/ebrd-to-extend-100-m-loan-to-egypts-banque-misr-to-back-msmes\/\">European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)<\/a> allocated \u20ac34.5 million loan for greening Morocco&#8217;s pharmaceutical sector.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The loan will go to Dislog Group companies, owned by H&amp;S Holding (&#8220;H&amp;S&#8221;), a diversified industrial Moroccan group operating in various areas of activity.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The facility to Dislog will consist of two tranches. \u20ac24.5 million will be used to acquire Steripharma, a local pharmaceuticals manufacturer that provides affordable specialty generics medicines to replace expensive original products in the treatment of life-threatening diseases.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The remaining \u20ac10 million loan will finance the construction of a new green-certified industrial building and logistics platform as well as the installation of photovoltaic (PV) panels. The new PV panels are expected to generate energy to power the building and will help reduce CO2 emissions. This tranche will be supported by a guarantee from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebrd.com\/who-we-are\/structure-and-management\/shareholders\/european-union.html\">European Union<\/a>\u00a0(EU) through its European Fund for Sustainable Development (EFSD), in line with the objective of the EU-Morocco Green Partnership.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The investment will enable Dislog to expand into the pharmaceuticals industry and capture higher added value in the supply chains in Morocco. The acquisition of Steripharma will complement Dislog\u2019s established competence in reaching a wide network of small distribution outlets and help increase profit from its existing distribution channels and logistics chains.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The loan will be accompanied by a technical assistance project funded by the EU through the EFSD program to upgrade its human resources policies by implementing a dedicated Gender Diagnostic and Action Plan. The project will help Dislog promote gender equality and the career progression of female workers, along with policies related to childcare and the prevention of gender-based violence and harassment.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Dislog will also receive a grant from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fintecc.ebrd.com\/index.html\">FINTECC Program<\/a>, which helps companies in participating EBRD economies to implement innovative climate technologies. The program is part of, and financed through, the EBRD\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebrd.com\/what-we-do\/get.html\">Green Economy Transition approach<\/a>\u00a0and is supported by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegef.org\/who-we-are\">Global Environment Facility<\/a>\u00a0and the European Union.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Dislog is a leading distributor of fast-moving consumer goods covering more than 70,000 retailers across the country.
