General Supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM<\/a>) Atef Moftah said green economy is pivotal for realizing the aspired development and GEM<\/a> is an example of tourist projects applying environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n

He said GEM is the first sustainable museum that contributed to developing tourist activities embracing environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n

Moftah made the remarks during the 5th Forum on Strategies for Transition to Green Economy which is organized by CSR Egypt under the theme of Green DNA “Sustainable Finance and Impact Investment”.<\/p>\n

He noted that GEM received the Gold Certificate for Green Building and Sustainability in accordance with the Egyptian Green Pyramid System.<\/p>\n

The Green Pyramid Certificate is awarded by the Housing and Building National Research Centre in Egypt for buildings that adopt environmentally friendly strategies and achieve sustainable development.<\/p>\n

He said GEM received several awards and certificates for cherishing sustainable development and being accredited as an eco-friendly green building.<\/p>\n

He added that the museum sought to prepare a guide to evaluate the museum as a sustainable green project, noting that GEM worked also on spreading awareness about sustainable green buildings and their positive impact on economic, environmental and societal resources within the framework of implementing Egypt vision 2030.<\/p>\n

The museum has succeeded in attaining these goals in collaboration with in cooperation with the Housing and Building National Research Center in order to maintain the balance between environment protection and the sustainability of tourism and archaeological activities in addition to encouraging transition to green economy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
