{"id":88273,"date":"2023-06-05T14:38:55","date_gmt":"2023-06-05T11:38:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/?p=88273"},"modified":"2023-06-05T14:38:55","modified_gmt":"2023-06-05T11:38:55","slug":"newly-formed-uk-pie-group-seeks-reducing-impact-of-pharmaceuticals-on-environment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/newly-formed-uk-pie-group-seeks-reducing-impact-of-pharmaceuticals-on-environment\/","title":{"rendered":"Newly-formed UK PiE Group seeks reducing impact of pharmaceuticals on environment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The new-formed UK Group of Pharmaceuticals in the Environment (PiE) seeks to reduce the impacts of pharmaceuticals in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/en\/samsung-innovative-products-to-help-more-people-reduce-their-impact-on-environment\/\">environment.<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The PiE Group is a UK cross-government platform to enable discussion and knowledge exchange relating to pharmaceuticals in the environment from human, veterinary and, where there is cross over, agricultural and non-agricultural sources.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">It anticipates that membership will grow to include more organizations from across the UK government and devolved administrations.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Currently, the group\u2019s membership includes Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD), Environment Agency (EA), Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Veterinary Products Committee (VPC), Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/medicines-and-healthcare-products-regulatory-agency\">Medicines &amp; Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">At the first meeting, held in April 2023, the group agreed its purpose \u2013 to develop a co-ordinated strategy to reduce the impacts of pharmaceuticals on the environment (biodiversity) and human health.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">It also identified its first priority area, which is to gain a better understanding of the potential sources of fipronil and imidacloprid levels detected in UK surface waters and to work towards reducing these levels.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new-formed UK Group of Pharmaceuticals in the Environment (PiE) seeks to reduce the impacts of pharmaceuticals in the environment.
