{"id":87053,"date":"2023-05-01T01:29:59","date_gmt":"2023-04-30T22:29:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/?p=87053"},"modified":"2023-05-01T01:29:59","modified_gmt":"2023-04-30T22:29:59","slug":"bbva-earmarks-e-150-bn-for-sustainable-business-from-2018-to-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/bbva-earmarks-e-150-bn-for-sustainable-business-from-2018-to-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"BBVA earmarks \u20ac 150 bn for sustainable business from 2018 to 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/en\/bbva-e1-bn-social-bond-in-2021-benefited-around-4-million-people\/\">BBVA<\/a> has channeled 150 billion euros in sustainable business from 2018 to March 2023, half of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbva.com\/en\/sustainability\/bbva-raises-to-e300-billion-its-target-of-sustainable-financing\/\">\u20ac300 billion target<\/a>\u00a0set for the 2018-2025 period.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Nearly 14 billion euros was mobilized in the year&#8217;s first quarter, an increase of almost 20 percent compared to the same period in 2022.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cQuarter after quarter we are making good progress towards achieving our sustainable business goal for 2025,\u201d said Javier Rodr\u00edguez Soler, BBVA\u2019s Global Head of Sustainability, commenting on these results.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cThese quarterly growth rates are marked by the\u00a0consolidation and extension of sustainable business to all segments. In this regard,operations with medium-sized companies\u00a0are becoming increasingly important, especially in Spain, Mexico and Turkey,\u201d said Javier Rodr\u00edguez Soler.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cIn the case of large companies, we have specific\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbva.com\/en\/sustainability\/bbva-publishes-its-clients-progress-toward-decarbonization-for-the-first-time\/\">action and transition plans<\/a>\u00a0for each client. We have set targets and decarbonization plans\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbva.com\/en\/sustainability\/bbva-commits-to-reduce-emissions-from-its-oil-and-gas-client-portfolio-by-30-by-2030\/\">for six emission-intensive sectors<\/a>. Incorporating sustainability into our business, in all sectors and throughout the economic structure, is the best way to make it possible at a global level,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">About 79 percent\u00a0of the 150 billion euros mobilized between 2018 and March 2023 has been earmarked to\u00a0favor action against climate change, while\u00a021 percent\u00a0has been directed at\u00a0promoting inclusive growth. Both are BBVA&#8217;s two strategic focuses to guide and assist its customers in their transition plans towards a more sustainable world.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">In\u00a0commercial banking, financing related to energy efficient buildings\u00a0stands out, such as\u00a0developer loans\u00a0or energy efficiency measures where the amount channeled has\u00a0risen 50 percent\u00a0over the same quarter last year and for which Spain was fundamental, growing 57 percent in this line.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">In\u00a0corporate banking, momentum in the market for brokered bonds in which BBVA acts as bookrunner stands out.
