Dalia Abdel Kader, Chief Sustainability Officer of the\u00a0Commercial International Bank (CIB)<\/a>, said the promising results of the first stage of \u201cFor Egypt ..We Build Generations\u201d initiative has paved the ground for launching the second stage.<\/p>\n

She made the remarks\u00a0during the launch of the second stage of the initiative at the 13th CSR and Sustainable Development Forum.<\/p>\n

The four-day event – organized by\u00a0CSR Egypt<\/a> – kicked off on Thursday in the Red Sea resort city of Hurghada.<\/p>\n

The initiative focused on the health of school children in vulnerable areas as children are the mainstay of sustainable development, she said.<\/p>\n

The initiative was based on three main axes; protection, treatment and future vision on children\u2019s health, she said.<\/p>\n

Abdel Kader noted that the initiative also depended on partnerships to realize inclusion of medical tests of children, surgeries and follow-up as well as the needed database in this regard.<\/p>\n

She highlighted that the CIB Foundation had a medical consultancy council and organized training for doctors.<\/p>\n

Under the first stage, 50,000 children in the Upper Egypt governorate of Qena underwent medical check-ups as per eye diseases, diabetes, dwarfism and anemia, she said.<\/p>\n

She noted that the initiative contributed to curbing school dropouts over disease-based bullying in addition to training 500 doctors.<\/p>\n

This has contributed to downing anemia cases from 18 to 7 percent, eye diseases from 11 to 6 percent and disease-based dropouts from 20 to 8 percent, she said.<\/p>\n

The initiative\u2019s second stage aims to provide integrated healthcare services for about 100,000 children in Beheira and Beni Suef governorates, she highlighted<\/p>\n

This comes on the back of the success of the first stage under which 50,000 children underwent medical check-ups in the Upper Egypt governorate of Qena at a total cost of EGP 11 million.<\/p>\n

The bank\u2019s interest in protecting children\u2019s health started in 2010 when it began to launch several overtures for supporting children\u2019s health until in 2022 the bank gave the go ahead of \u201cFor Egypt ..We Build Generations\u201d initiative.<\/p>\n

Abdel Kader hoped that the second stage of the initiative would secure needed database that would be beneficial for decision-makers and those involved in preparing health strategies.<\/p>\n

The initiative was launched under the patronage of the cabinet and under the supervision of the Ministries of Social Solidarity, Health and Education.<\/p>\n

CSR Egypt, Sona3 El Khair Foundation for Development and the National Alliance for Civil Development Work joined hands for implementing the overture \u2013 which falls within the context of the presidential initiative Decent Life<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
