The presidential initiative \u201cDecent Life\u201d seeks to reach 60 million people in 20 governorates with the initiative\u2019s cost expected to reach dlrs 900 billion upon its completion this year, Vice Chairperson\u00a0of the\u00a0Board\u00a0of Trustees of the Decent Life Foundation Ohoud Wafi said.<\/p>\n
Wafi made the remarks during a session held under the theme of \u201cEgypt..future visions and improving lives of all people\u201d within the framework of World Government Summit in Dubai.<\/p>\n
Wafi reviewed the main aspects of Decent Life initiative and how it seeks to assuage people\u2019s burdens through contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in Egypt.<\/p>\n
Wafi said the initiative seeks creating jobs, increasing people\u2019s income, and improving health, drinking water and sanitation services.<\/p>\n
The initiative also works on promoting economic empowerment through honing people\u2019s skills, she said, noting that social and cultural activities are organized within the framework of the initiative to alleviate people\u2019s burdens.<\/p>\n
She expounded that Decent Life initiative depends on the participation of volunteers to assess and monitor the projects and services on the ground in addition to spreading awareness among beneficiaries of the initiative about the best use of the projects and services offered.<\/p>\n
Decent Life – \u201cHayat Kareema\u201d \u2013 initiative which first mooted at one of the youth forums – is now moving ahead to be an icon of the new republic of Egypt. It is deemed as a mega national project serving the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n
Decent Life initiative is an idea proposed by ambitious youths to the president during one of the youth forums.<\/p>\n
Believing in this idea and its viability, the president gave directives to implement the overture which would mobilize the efforts of the government and civil society to achieve development.<\/p>\n
The main objective of the initiative is to improve the quality of life in villages through providing them with basic services, topped by clean water, electricity, sanitation, and natural gas in addition to promoting health and educational services.<\/p>\n
The initiative also included establishing governmental service complexes to facilitate offering services to citizens. Moreover, the initiative worked on paving streets in villages and renovating the canals used in irrigating lands.<\/p>\n
The initiative also took into consideration the importance of securing decent housing for people living in rural areas.<\/p>\n
The initiative also played a role in spreading culture through developing libraries and adopting cultural programs. The initiative also contributed to supporting orphans and poor girls.<\/p>\n
January 2 in 2019 represents a remarkable day in the lives of millions of Egyptians as President Abdel Fattah El Sisi gave the go ahead of the \u201cDecent Life\u201d initiative to improve the living standards in thousands of Egyptian villages. Then, the initiative was expanded to become a national project of the 21st<\/sup> century.<\/p>\n Undoubtedly, the government is interested in rendering the initiative successful so that people would enjoy a better life.<\/p>\n Moreover, the president has directed that the initiative will be carried out by Egyptian cadres and Egypt-made materials, thus creating hundreds of thousands of jobs and boosting e<\/p>\n The Decent Life Foundation has opened the door for all youths nationwide to engage in voluntary work under the initiative.
