President Abdel Fattah El Sisi<\/a> reviewed cooperation opportunities with the Greek Copelouzos<\/a> Group in implementing power production projects depending on renewable energy sources in Egypt in addition to giving directives to the Egyptian government to boost green hydrogen production.<\/p>\n

President Sisi had talks on Saturday with Dimitris Copelouzos, President and CEO of Copelouzos Group, on cooperation in power production projects depending on renewable and transferring electricity to Europe via Greece under the power linkage between the two countries, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi said.<\/p>\n

This will contribute to magnifying the benefit from the modern infrastructure established and developed by Egypt in the field of electricity over the past years, in addition to Egypt’s natural energy resources, such as wind and solar energy.<\/p>\n

It was agreed during the meeting to continue ongoing studies to crystallize cooperation with Copelouzos Group to establish projects for the production and transfer of clean energy from Egypt to Europe through Greece to consolidate Egypt’s position as a regional hub for trading all types of energy.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, President Sisi gave directives to promote efforts for generating green hydrogen in light of the growing value-added of green hydrogen projects.<\/p>\n

The President also gave directives to continue the implementation of national plans related to enhancing the role of renewable energy and magnifying its value with an aim to diversify energy supply sources, on which industrial, agricultural and urban development depends in Egypt.<\/p>\n

Sisi gave these directives during a meeting on Saturday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, Presidential Spokesman Fahmi said.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Shaker reviewed the progress realized so far in a number of projects in the electricity sector, especially those relying on wind and solar energy, in cooperation and partnership with foreign expertise.<\/p>\n

This falls within the framework of Egypt’s sustainable energy strategy that aims to get renewable energy to represent 42% of the electrical energy mix in Egypt by 2035.<\/p>\n

Shaker also reviewed developments pertinent to cooperation with international expertise in the field of generating green hydrogen using renewable energy, in accordance with the relevant national strategy.<\/p>\n
