{"id":84358,"date":"2023-01-08T22:31:55","date_gmt":"2023-01-08T20:31:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/?p=84358"},"modified":"2023-01-08T22:31:55","modified_gmt":"2023-01-08T20:31:55","slug":"sdg-summit-to-focus-on-accelerating-progress-towards-sustainability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/sdg-summit-to-focus-on-accelerating-progress-towards-sustainability\/","title":{"rendered":"SDG Summit to focus on accelerating progress towards sustainability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hlpf.un.org\/sdg-summit\">SDG Summit<\/a>\u00a0is a critical moment to watch in 2023 as heads of state and government will gather in New York in September to take stock and open a new phase of accelerated progress towards the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/en\/samsung-global-goals-app-raises-10-m-to-help-undp-advance-sdgs\/\"> Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">During the United Nations General Assembly high-level week in September 2023, Heads of State and Government will gather at the United Nations Headquarters in New York to review the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">In the lead-up to the Summit, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hlpf.un.org\/2023\">High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development<\/a>\u00a0in July will focus on hastening the pandemic recovery and getting back on track for the full implementation of the Goals.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in July 2022 called for the Summit to \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/documents-dds-ny.un.org\/doc\/UNDOC\/GEN\/N22\/455\/26\/PDF\/N2245526.pdf?OpenElement\">mark the beginning of a new phase of accelerated progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/conferences\/SDGSummit2023\">SDG Summit<\/a>\u00a0marks the mid-point of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. It will bring together political and thought leaders from governments, international organizations, private sector, civil society, women and youth and other stakeholders in a series of high-level meetings. They will carry out a comprehensive review of the state of the SDGs, respond to the impact of multiple and interlocking crises facing the world, and provide high-level political guidance on transformative and accelerated actions leading up to the 2030 deadline for achieving the SDGs. The SDG Summit will be chaired by the President of the General Assembly. The outcome of the Summit will be a negotiated political declaration.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The Summit will focus on people. It will culminate 10 months of active preparations involving governments, the UN system and other international and regional organizations, the private sector, NGOs, youth, cities, and multiple other actors and people.
