The all-electric delivery vehicles will be used for parcel pick-up and delivery across strategic locations in the UAE. The six-month trial represents the debut of zero-tailpipe emissions vehicles for FedEx in the Middle East and North Africa region and will allow for evaluation of the vehicles\u2019 operational effectiveness on typical routes while carrying a full load of packages.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cOur efforts to operate more sustainably apply to all areas throughout our network and we are continuously innovating to reduce the environmental impact from daily operations. This first EV trial in the Middle East and North Africa region is a step towards shaping the future of delivery. It requires identifying the right technology to ensure the successful integration of electric vehicles into the FedEx Express fleet, and ultimately enhancing how we support our business, customers, and team members\u201d, said Taarek Hinedi, vice president of FedEx Express Middle East and Africa operations. \u201cThe increasing popularity of e-commerce means transforming our operations to be more sustainable is more important than ever\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Across the broader Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa region, FedEx has deployed electric vehicles in a number of countries, with the region\u2019s largest EV fleet in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.fedex.com\/newsroom\/asia-english\/fedex-tests-autonomous-delivery-vehicle-in-china\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">China<\/a>. FedEx has also introduced EV trials in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.fedex.com\/newsroom\/meisa-english\/fedex-express-tests-electric-vehicles-in-india\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">India<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.fedex.com\/newsroom\/asia-english\/fedex-express-launches-its-first-zero-tailpipe-emissions-all-electric-delivery-vehicles-in-thailand\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Thailand<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.fedex.com\/newsroom\/middle-east-indian-subcontinent-and-africa\/fedex-express-tests-electric-vehicle-in-johannesburg\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">South Africa<\/a>\u00a0to help advance emissions reduction goals.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The trial is part of the efforts to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fedexcares.com\/stories\/sustainable-logistics\/fedex-sets-2040-carbon-neutral-target#:~:text=FedEx%20is%20proud%20to%20announce,Climate%20Agreement%2010%20years%20early.\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">achieve carbon-neutral operations globally by 2040<\/a>. Electrifying the entire FedEx Express pick up and delivery fleet is a core element towards this target.
