{"id":82465,"date":"2022-11-09T22:57:47","date_gmt":"2022-11-09T20:57:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/?p=82465"},"modified":"2022-11-09T22:57:47","modified_gmt":"2022-11-09T20:57:47","slug":"eib-to-back-colombias-transition-to-clean-energy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/eib-to-back-colombias-transition-to-clean-energy\/","title":{"rendered":"EIB to back Colombia&#8217;s transition to clean energy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/en\/eib-banque-misr-team-up-to-further-support-smes\/\">European Investment Bank (EIB)<\/a> and the Colombian government are signing a statement of intent to enable the energy transition process in the country, at the 27<sup>th<\/sup> United Nations Climate Change Conference (<a href=\"https:\/\/cop27.eg\/#\/\">COP27<\/a>) in Egypt.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The joint Declaration of Intent between the Ministry of Mines and Energy of the Republic of Colombia and the European Investment Bank, will support just energy transition in Colombia, with a focus on green hydrogen and other green technologies.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Colombian Minister of Mines and Energy,\u00a0Irene V\u00e9lez Torres\u00a0and President of the EIB,\u00a0Werner Hoyer\u00a0signed the agreement at the Colombian pavilion at COP 27 in Egypt.\u00a0President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro,\u00a0Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alvaro Leyva Dur\u00e1n\u00a0and other high-level dignitaries attended the signature ceremony in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Speaking at the COP 27 signature event in Egypt,\u00a0EIB President, Werner Hoyer\u00a0said\u00a0<em>\u201cThe European Investment Bank is fully committed to support global climate action through innovative technologies and solutions like green hydrogen. The agreement announced today at COP 27 sets the stage for a greater partnership between the EU and the government of Colombia to reach ambitious climate goals and a just and equitable energy transition. The EIB has been a financing partner of Colombia for over 15 years and is pleased to have a key role in this important journey for the country, aligned with our vision as Europe\u2019s climate bank worldwide. \u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Commenting on the agreement,\u00a0Colombian\u00a0Minister of Mines and Energy,\u00a0Irene V\u00e9lez Torres\u00a0said\u00a0<em>&#8220;To implement the Just Energy Transition, Colombia needs international support. As much as the international community has been fundamental in the search for Total Peace in our country, it will also be for boosting the energy communities and the productive economy in the energy transition.
