More than 100 youths participated in planting 100 trees in the Upper Egypt governorate of Luxor in dedication of the countries due to part in the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 27)<\/a>, which will be hosted by Egypt\u2019s Red Sea resort city of Sharm el Sheikh in November.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by Luxor Governor Moustafa Alham and Chairman of Water Company in Luxor Mohamed Yehia and Egypt\u2019s Sustainability Ambassador, Climate Activist and World Records Holder\u00a0Ali Abdo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"Ali Abdo is currently on a \u201cRide to COP27\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0which will be the world\u2019s longest journey on an electric motorcycle \u2013 aims to promote awareness on the untapped opportunity of using renewable energy sources in realizing the net zero ambitions.<\/p>\n

This was one of the important stops in Ali Abdo\u2019s journey as it will positively affect the environment and contribute to confronting climate change.<\/p>\n

The Ride to COP27 aims mainly to document the impact of climate change, raise people\u2019s awareness in this regard in order to join climate action and send a message to heavy-weight counties to support developing states and cut greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n

According to Ali\u00a0Abdo, the key performance indicators (KPIs) of the Ride to COP27 are \u201cKeep People Informed, Keep People Involved, Keep People Interested and Keep People Empowered.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ali Abdo launched a similar tour on his electric motorbike in June to mark the 2022 World Environment Day.<\/p>\n

Abdo rode his electric motorcycle through Egyptian cities around the River Nile to meet students and government officials and deliver talks focused on the impacts of the climate crisis.<\/p>\n

The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) aired a special\u00a0LIVE broadcast<\/a>\u00a0of Ali Abdo\u2019s tour in Egyptian cities among five key events marking the World Environment Day.<\/p>\n

By touring Egypt on an electric motorbike, Abdo sought to document the impact of Climate Change on the region, and hoped to accelerate action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n

Ali Abdo<\/a>\u00a0holds the Guinness World Record for greatest distance on an electric motorcycle in 24 hours: 919.87 km in 2021.<\/p>\n

Abdo holds 3 World Records, including having traveled the greatest distance on an electric motorbike in 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Organizing such cycling events to propagate for COP27 will contribute to changing people\u2019s culture to use bikes and encourage them to adopt eco-friendly attitudes to protect the planet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
