Sanofi<\/a> has launched\u00a0Foundation S\u00a0\u2013 <\/em>The Sanofi Collective,\u00a0its philanthropic endowment fund aiming to create healthier futures for generations. Using donations, partnerships and collective action,\u00a0Foundation S<\/em>\u00a0will focus on three critical areas: childhood\u00a0cancer, the health of communities most vulnerable to the effects of climate change and pollution, and access to lifesaving medicines and vaccines.<\/p>\n

Serge Weinberg, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sanofi and President,\u00a0Foundation S, said \u201cAs a\u00a0global\u00a0healthcare company,\u00a0we must\u00a0take part in\u00a0tackling some of the challenges our society faces.\u00a0We are proud of what the\u00a0Sanofi Espoir\u00a0Foundation\u00a0has\u00a0achieved this\u00a0past decade\u00a0and the legacy\u00a0it leaves.\u00a0The world changes at an incredible\u00a0pace\u00a0and\u00a0numerous new\u00a0systemic challenges\u00a0emerge. Now\u00a0is\u00a0the right time to\u00a0go one step further\u00a0and\u00a0Foundation S\u00a0is the\u00a0right\u00a0structure, more focused, more agile,\u00a0to better\u00a0help\u00a0vulnerable\u00a0populations\u00a0across the world.\u00a0\u201d<\/p>\n

Foundation S<\/em>\u00a0will incorporate as its cornerstone initiative the former\u00a0Sanofi Espoir Foundation\u2019s\u00a0\u2018My Child Matters<\/a>\u2019program\u00a0in childhood\u00a0cancer. Launched in 2005 to give every child an equal chance of survival, \u2018My Child Matters\u2019 provides financial support and expertise so that all children can access diagnosis and treatment. The program has helped more than 120,000 children, trained over 50,000 healthcare professionals and been credited with increasing survival outcomes.<\/p>\n

Additionally,\u00a0Foundation S<\/em>\u00a0will fund awareness and research for\u00a0childhood cancer in various countries. Together, these initiatives support the World Health Organization (WHO) objective of achieving at least 60% survival for all children with cancer by 2030, saving an additional 1 million lives over the next decade.<\/p>\n

Fighting for healthier futures requires addressing today\u2019s challenges and anticipating growing crises. To that end,\u00a0Foundation S<\/em>\u00a0will work to increase the\u00a0health resilience of vulnerable populations\u00a0most\u00a0impacted by\u00a0climate change and\u00a0pollution.\u00a0Foundation S<\/em>\u00a0will begin by collaborating with the international NGO Friendship, Bangladesh-based, focused on that nation\u2019s hard-to-reach, climate-vulnerable islands of Gaibandha. There,\u00a0Foundation S\u00a0will help train healthcare workers, and fund satellite clinics and a floating hospital in a region outside mainstream healthcare services.<\/p>\n

To better help vulnerable populations,\u00a0Foundation S<\/em>\u00a0will leverage Sanofi\u2019s longstanding emergency aid expertise and improve the connection between\u00a0<\/strong>humanitarian and development financing. As in Ukraine, where the company has coordinated and accelerated donations of essential medicines and vaccines for patients and refugees,\u00a0Foundation S<\/em>\u00a0will\u00a0renew\u00a0Sanofi\u2019s\u00a0emergency aid\u00a0donations program\u00a0and expand proactive support notably for displaced populations.<\/p>\n

Paul Hudson, <\/strong>Chief Executive Officer, Sanofi and Board Member,\u00a0Foundation S, said \u201cThe launch of Foundation S\u00a0is\u00a0a new cornerstone of Sanofi\u2019s\u00a0commitment to society\u00a0and a pivotal moment for the life of our company\u00a0and our people.\u00a0With\u00a0Foundation S, we\u00a0aim\u00a0to\u00a0weigh in and act\u00a0on targeted areas where we\u00a0know we\u00a0can make a real difference for\u00a0populations\u00a0exposed to health difficulties.\u201d<\/p>\n

Foundation S<\/em>\u00a0will operate as a \u201cthink\u00a0&\u00a0do tank.\u201d The \u2018think-tank\u2019 guides the development and implementation of\u00a0Foundation S<\/em>\u2019s focus areas, convenes thought-provoking discussions on how to best address health challenges. The \u2018do-tank\u2019 is the operational arm that supports program implementation and monitors their impact on public health.\u00a0Sanofi employees\u00a0will be key to the success of the\u00a0Foundation S<\/em>\u00a0and be empowered to support its programs and partners through volunteering and preceptorships: a period of practical experience to be gained.<\/p>\n

This endowment fund allows\u00a0Foundation S\u00a0<\/em>to open the opportunity for co-sponsorship of public initiatives and broader partnerships. Through its direct product donation programs and humanitarian efforts, and by working with partners and organizations around the world,\u00a0Foundation S<\/em>\u00a0further strengthens Sanofi\u2019s longstanding commitment to society.<\/p>\n
