Schneider Electric<\/a> has donated equipment worth 4 million euros to help restore essential energy supplies in Ukraine. The donation was facilitated by the World Economic Forum (WEF) as part of the organization\u2019s ongoing efforts to identify concrete and practical steps its members can take to support humanitarian needs in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

With the support of Ukraine\u2019s Ministry of Energy, the\u00a0equipment will be deployed by public and private utilities including DTEK, a major energy provider in Ukraine, to help restore electricity to some of the 1.5 million people currently without supply.<\/p>\n

On March 11, WEF convened a forum of chief executives from its partner companies, academics, civil society leaders and Ukrainian leaders\u00a0via\u00a0a special roundtable to discuss the country\u2019s immediate needs in relation to power and energy<\/a>. The forum focused in particular on efforts to maintain the supply of electricity and heat for the people of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

During the roundtable, the latest figures discussed at the forum highlighted that over 1.5 million people in 1,300 Ukrainian towns and cities were currently without electricity. Schneider Electric is committed in contributing\u00a0to help restore and maintain\u00a0energy\u00a0supply to people in Ukraine. Implementation of this mission will be\u00a0in cooperation\u00a0with DTEK, which has well-established\u00a0network\u00a0and expertise to implement humanitarian aid throughout the country.<\/p>\n

In addition to the donation of equipment, the Schneider Electric Foundation supports NGO partner \u2018SOS Attitude\u2019 in running a refugee camp in Moldavia.<\/p>\n

As an organization, the safety and security of Schneider Electric\u2019s employees remains its top priority. The company has been supporting its Ukrainian employees and their families with temporary housing and other essential needs. Beyond the initial 1 million Euros donation, the company has also launched an internal crowdfunding campaign enabling employees to support their Ukrainian colleagues and their families, with unlimited matching by the company.<\/p>\n
