The “Aswan Green Flag” initiative was launched within the framework of the ongoing preparations for the 27th \u00a0United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27)<\/a> which will be held in Egypt’s Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh in November.<\/div>\n

Governor of Aswan Ashraf Attia gave the go-ahead for the four-day social initiative which is meant to serve the goals of the State’s sustainable development plan as well as “Egypt Vision 2030<\/a>“.<\/p>\n

The overture is meant to raise awareness among people, especially youths, about the importance of protecting the environment and changing their attitudes to curb water and air pollution, he said.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He also underlined the importance of protecting natural reserves and managing them in accordance with international standards to maintain the balance of the eco-system and promote economic and social development under a clean and safe environment.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He added that the initiative also aims at spreading awareness about the importance of recycling, rationalizing energy consumption and planting trees.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
He said the Aswan governorate plans to plant about 12,000 trees in the coming three years, noting that <\/span>a symbolic tree was planted in front of the governorate’s headquarters.<\/div>\n

He noted that the governorate had recently been affected by the negative impact of climate change, including extreme weather changes, such as the torrential rains that hit the governorate in November.<\/div>\n
