{"id":70287,"date":"2021-09-14T22:06:53","date_gmt":"2021-09-14T20:06:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/?p=70287"},"modified":"2021-09-14T22:06:53","modified_gmt":"2021-09-14T20:06:53","slug":"ebrd-provides-e25-m-loan-for-egypts-first-dry-port-under-green-cities-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/ebrd-provides-e25-m-loan-for-egypts-first-dry-port-under-green-cities-program\/","title":{"rendered":"EBRD provides \u20ac25 m loan for Egypt\u2019s first dry port under Green Cities program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/en\/ebrd-extends-25-m-loan-to-fund-green-energy-projects-in-egypt\/\">European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)<\/a> is supporting the construction of the first inland dry port in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebrd.com\/egypt.html\">\u00a0Egypt<\/a>, in 6th of October City,\u00a0west of Cairo, with a \u20ac25 million loan to October Dry Port Company, a special-purpose vehicle established by a consortium of El Sewedy Electric, Schenker Egypt and SLP Logistics.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The development and construction of the 6th of October Dry Port is the first public-private partnership (PPP) project in the sector and the first under the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebrdgreencities.com\/\">EBRD Green Cities<\/a>\u00a0program in Egypt.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Egypt\u2019s first inland dry port will function as an extended gateway to the deep sea ports located in the northern and eastern regions of the country, thus supporting the existing port infrastructure and logistics market.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The 6th of October Dry Port will help to make logistics more efficient as it will become the final destination of cargo and will provide efficient customs inspection and clearance procedures. This will reduce congestion in the sea ports and create economies of scale through the use of intermodal rail services at the sea ports. It will also improve the overall reliability and cost-efficiency of the logistical processes for the dry port\u2019s future clients.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Once operational, the 6th of October Dry Port will contribute to a reduction in road congestion, accidents and CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0emissions by transferring some of the container traffic from road to rail.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Nandita Parshad, EBRD Managing Director for Sustainable Infrastructure, said<strong>\u00a0\u201c<\/strong>The 6th of October Dry Port PPP is a true milestone for both Egypt and the EBRD, marking the country\u2019s first inland dry port PPP and triggering 6th of October City\u2019s initiation into the EBRD\u2019s flagship Green Cities program. It is a shining example of how we can simultaneously increase the capacity of the existing port infrastructure and logistics services while pushing forward the green agenda<strong>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Ahmed El Sewedy, President and CEO of Elsewedy Electric, said: \u201cWe are very pleased with the successful signing of this flagship project, a new milestone in our long-term relationship with the EBRD.
