Niger\u2019s IHS Towers is the sole African company to join a new Global Reporting Initiative(GRI<\/a>) program – \u00a0the Business Leadership Forum (BLF) on Corporate Reporting as a Driver for Achieving the SDGs<\/a><\/p>\n

The new\u00a0GRI program\u00a0to\u00a0enhance\u00a0corporate reporting on the\u00a0Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)\u00a0by\u00a0making\u00a0it more relevant to\u00a0stakeholders has\u00a0commenced, bringing\u00a0together senior representatives from\u00a0multiple\u00a0international companies.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Business Leadership Forum on Corporate Reporting as a Driver for Achieving the SDGs<\/a>\u00a0will\u00a0help\u00a0companies use\u00a0transparency\u00a0to\u00a0increase their\u00a0contributions\u00a0to\u00a0national and global\u00a0SDG\u00a0commitments.<\/p>\n

Over the next two years it\u00a0will\u00a0deliver\u00a0a series of quarterly\u00a0online\u00a0events\u00a0that\u00a0incorporate\u00a0a mix of\u00a0expert guidance, peer learning and engagement with\u00a0key stakeholder groups,\u00a0with a\u00a0focus on\u00a0raising\u00a0the quality and relevance of\u00a0SDG data.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0companies\u00a0to\u00a0have joined\u00a0the BLF so far represent a cohort of businesses with a passion for sustainability. The members are based in\u00a0Africa,\u00a0Asia,\u00a0Europe, Latin America\u00a0and\u00a0North America\u00a0and cover\u00a0a\u00a0diverse range of sectors\u00a0\u2013\u00a0spanning\u00a0energy to healthcare, and textiles to telecoms.<\/p>\n

The companies include ABB\u00a0Group\u00a0(Switzerland), Baxter\u00a0International\u00a0(USA), CEMEX\u00a0(Mexico), Cigna\u00a0(USA)\u00a0, Enel\u00a0Group\u00a0(Italy), Eni\u00a0(Italy), Ferrero\u00a0Group\u00a0(Luxembourg), Fujitsu\u00a0(Japan), Grupo Bimbo\u00a0(Mexico), Inditex\u00a0(Spain)\u00a0, JTI\u00a0(Switzerland), Mosaic\u00a0(USA), Prysmian\u00a0Group\u00a0(Italy), Salesforce\u00a0(USA), and City Developments\u00a0Limited\u00a0(Singapore).<\/p>\n

The\u00a0first\u00a0BLF\u00a0lab takes place\u00a0in May,\u00a0when members will be joined by\u00a0stakeholder representatives from\u00a0sustainability\u00a0benchmarking\u00a0and rating agencies.\u00a0Further sessions this year will\u00a0bring together corporate reporters with\u00a0participants\u00a0from governments, investment institutions\u00a0and regulatory bodies.<\/p>\n

There is\u00a0still\u00a0limited capacity for new members to join the BLF\u00a0and access the\u00a0unique\u00a0opportunities to develop as a\u00a0corporate\u00a0sustainability leader.<\/p>\n
