{"id":66281,"date":"2021-04-28T23:11:51","date_gmt":"2021-04-28T21:11:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/?p=66281"},"modified":"2021-05-03T15:26:45","modified_gmt":"2021-05-03T13:26:45","slug":"banque-misr-launches-nile-misr-healthcare-investment-platform-at-380-m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/banque-misr-launches-nile-misr-healthcare-investment-platform-at-380-m\/","title":{"rendered":"Banque Misr launches \u201cNile\u00a0Misr\u00a0Healthcare\u201d investment platform at $ 380 m"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Misr Capital Investments company &#8211; the investment arm of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/en\/nbe-banque-misr-earmark-egp-60m-for-health-sector\/\"> Banque Misr<\/a> &#8211; launched in tandem with Elevate Private Equity &#8211; the strategic management company of Nile Scan and Labs \u2013 \u201cNile Misr Healthcare\u201d investment platform at dlrs 380 million.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The platform, considered Egypt and Africa\u2019s largest private equity healthcare platform, will invest across all healthcare verticals in the continent.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Wednesday, Banque Misr said the platform will search for attractive investment opportunities in the healthcare sector in Egypt and Africa.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The platform, \u201cNile Misr Healthcare\u201d, is structured on the strong investment and medical expertise of the two partners, who will actively manage the fund strategy and acquire highly selective targets with strong potential across healthcare verticals spanning hospitals, diagnostic facilities, pharmaceuticals, medical education, and digital medical services among others in Egypt and Sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Akef El Maghraby, Chairman of Misr Capital and Vice Chairman at Banque Misr stated, \u201cResponsible investments come at the top of Misr Capital\u2019s priorities, especially in sectors like healthcare that contribute to the society in which we operate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cInvesting in healthcare not only adds positive, real value to the society, but also comes in line with SDG 3 of the UN\u2019s sustainable development goals and the United Nation\u2019s Principles of Responsible Investments,\u201d He added.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Commenting on opportunities in the domestic market, Khalil El Bawab, CEO of Misr Capital stated, \u201cEgypt has a growing middle class, and the country is witnessing a continuous increase in private medical insurance penetration. Furthermore, the government\u2019s ambitious goal to cover all Egyptians under a universal health insurance program over the next fifteen years in partnership with the WHO makes this strategic move come at a very opportune time for Misr Capital as we embark on our journey to enter the healthcare investments space.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cWith a population of over 1 billion citizens and the IMF projecting GDP growth of approximately 4%1 in 2022 in Sub-Saharan Africa, the continent provides a multitude of opportunities for private healthcare investments that we are keen on conquering through this partnership,\u201d added Bawab.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Capitalizing on the first secured commitment from Banque Misr, the platform managers are looking to raise $ 150 million before the first closing in Q1 2022, after seeding initial investments Banque Misr\u2019s cash commitment and Elevate Private Equity\u2019s in-kind contribution to the platform.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Dr. Tarek Moharram, a healthcare veteran with over 14 years of experience in managing, developing, and growing medical entities in Egypt, will take the helm as chief executive officer of the platform.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cThis partnership leverages the technical and strategic expertise of Elevate Private Equity with Misr Capital\u2019s renowned financial and investment track-record; effectually forming a platform that will actively pursue M&amp;A transactions in the highly-fragmented healthcare spaces across our targeted jurisdictions.
