Given the increase in working from home last year, however, vehicle miles traveled dropped to unprecedented lows.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-newsletter-10\" style=\"direction: ltr;\">\u201cA lot of cities have a reputation for being \u2018super green,\u2019 but you have to look beyond the urban core\u2014you really have to look at the whole metropolitan statistical area,\u201d Schewel said, noting that people are likely to drive more as they relocate to the suburbs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-newsletter-11\" style=\"direction: ltr;\">Sprawling metro areas such as Atlanta, Dallas and Riverside, Calif., were again ranked in the bottom 25%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-ad-para paragraph-newsletter-12\" style=\"direction: ltr;\">As electric vehicles and mass transit become more popular, carbon emissions among commuters are likely to be mitigated, StreetLight suggested.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With more people working from home and a massive reduction in travel\u00a0due to Covid-19,\u00a0pollution\u00a0plummeted across the country last year, according to a new report.
