{"id":62297,"date":"2021-01-05T22:25:15","date_gmt":"2021-01-05T20:25:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/?p=62297"},"modified":"2021-01-05T22:25:15","modified_gmt":"2021-01-05T20:25:15","slug":"ebrd-to-extend-e14-8-m-to-jordan-to-get-electric-buses-for-1st-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/ebrd-to-extend-e14-8-m-to-jordan-to-get-electric-buses-for-1st-time\/","title":{"rendered":"EBRD to extend \u20ac14.8 m to Jordan to get electric buses for 1st time"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/en\/ebrd-extends-12-m-for-promoting-green-tech-in-giza-pyramids-hotel\/\">European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)<\/a> is providing a \u20ac14.8 million financial package to Jordan to get 15 zero-emission electric buses, the first of their kind in Jordan, and 136 Euro V diesel buses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ammancity.gov.jo\/ar\/main\/index.aspx\">Greater Amman Municipality<\/a>\u00a0(GAM) will receive the financial package to receive the new bus fleet. The population of Amman will benefit from the introduction of the new buses in the Jordanian capital thanks to its participation in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebrdgreencities.com\/\">EBRD Green Cities<\/a>, the Bank\u2019s pioneering urban sustainability program.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The electric buses will be financed with \u20ac2.8 million from the EBRD and the same amount from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenclimate.fund\/\">Green Climate Fund<\/a>\u00a0(GCF), while the diesel buses will be purchased with a \u20ac12 million EBRD loan.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Relative to the current fleet, the new vehicles will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution, while offering commuters easy access to a safe and comfortable means of transport. The city will also introduce new routes and refurbish its bus depot, which will be leased to a private-sector operator that will manage the facility.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The financing is a follow-on investment from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebrdgreencities.com\/our-cities\/amman\/\">Amman&#8217;s Green City Action Plan<\/a>\u00a0(GCAP), developed as part of Amman\u2019s participation in EBRD Green Cities. Under the GCAP, the city aims to plan and invest in its green development by addressing key issues, such as managing solid waste, reducing pollution and energy consumption and tackling pressing climate and environmental challenges.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The investment will improve public transport in this city of four million inhabitants, while serving as a crucial first step in a transition to low-carbon transport infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The \u201cpartnership for transformation\u201d between the Green Climate Fund and the EBRD has seen the GCF support six EBRD programs with $ 830 million, catalyzing more than $ 3.6 billion in total project value.
