S&P\u2019s Dow Jones Sustainability Index \u2013 which measures more than 2,000 publicly traded companies on their economic, environmental and social performance \u2013 has named Unilever<\/a> industry leader in personal products.<\/p>\n

Unilever achieved a\u00a0score of 90 out of 100<\/a>\u00a0across a range of 27 environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria.<\/p>\n

The Index is a key tool for investors who recognize that responsible business practices are critical to generating long-term shareholder value.<\/p>\n

Unilever has been part of the DJSI since its launch in 1999 and named leader 21 times. In this year\u2019s Index, we achieved industry top scores in 15 criteria.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cESG responsibility is now a core question that portfolio managers are asking,\u201d CEO Alan Jope told the World Economic Forum in a recent\u00a0video interview<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cFinally, the penny is dropping that there is not a trade-off between doing the right thing and doing the profitable thing,\u201d he added. \u201cDoing the right thing is a pathway to a more profitable and more sustainable business.\u201d<\/p>\n

Being recognized as industry leader by the most respected independent sustainability benchmark reflects the sustainability efforts across the entire company and shows that responsible business practices are a win\u2013win, delivering for Unilever\u2019s investors, consumers, for society and the planet.<\/p>\n

As well as demonstrating to Unilever\u2019s stakeholders its commitment to long-term sustainable business and growth, being named industry leader means the company also continue to be included in DJSI World, a global investment index which tracks leading sustainability-driven companies.<\/p>\n
