{"id":59476,"date":"2020-09-29T16:29:38","date_gmt":"2020-09-29T14:29:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/?p=59476"},"modified":"2020-09-29T16:29:38","modified_gmt":"2020-09-29T14:29:38","slug":"jaguar-land-rover-interiors-to-be-made-of-ocean-plastic-waste","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/jaguar-land-rover-interiors-to-be-made-of-ocean-plastic-waste\/","title":{"rendered":"Jaguar Land Rover interiors to be made of ocean plastic waste"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Jaguar Land Rover is working on using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/en\/subaru-spearheads-new-plastic-waste-recycling-initiative\/\">plastic waste<\/a> coming from oceans and landfills to develop high-quality interiors.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Next-generation Jaguar and Land Rover models will feature floor mats and trims made with ECONYL\u00ae fiber from recycled industrial plastic, fabric offcuts from clothing manufacturers, fishing nets from the farming industry, and those abandoned in the ocean\u2013 known as \u2018ghost nets\u2019.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">This commitment to designing sustainable luxury interiors using responsibly sourced and recycled materials is part of Jaguar Land Rover\u2019s Destination Zero mission, with innovation helping to make environments safer and cleaner while offering customers a premium, sustainable option.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The ECONYL\u00ae regenerated nylon, created by Aquafil &#8211; a global leader in the synthetic fiber industry, has already been used by high-end fashion, sportswear and luxury watch brands to create handbags, backpacks, swimwear and watch straps.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The nylon waste is reclaimed by Aquafil from all over the world. In a single year, the company recycles as much as 40,000 tons of waste, with the recycling process reducing the global warming impact of nylon by 90 percent compared with the material produced from oil.<br \/>\nFor every 10,000 tons of ECONYL\u00ae raw material produced, 70,000 barrels of crude oil are saved and 65,100 tonnes of carbon emissions equivalent are avoided.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Inside state-of-the-art treatment centers the waste is analyzed, treated and prepared to feed into a chemical plant, where the nylon waste is broken to its original raw material using a chemical treatment process, known as depolymerization. The raw nylon material is then turned into the yarn, known as ECONYL\u00ae.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Throughout the process, other by-products such as non-nylon, metallic materials or copper sulphate which is used for preventing seagrass growing on fishing nets, are removed and sent to alternative industries for recycling.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The resulting ECONYL\u00ae regenerated nylon polymer has the same chemical and performance characteristics as raw fossil material, allowing it to be processed into a fiber for carpet flooring and textiles.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">This yarn can then be used to manufacture floor mats for future Jaguar and Land Rover models with the goal of using more environmentally conscious and sustainable materials while still providing customers with a premium and hardwearing product. The process is helping Jaguar Land Rover move towards a circular economy as part of its journey to Destination Zero.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Adrian Iles, Senior Engineer of Interior Systems at Jaguar Land Rover, said: \u201cOur designers and engineers are committed to developing the next generation of sustainable materials that will feature on future Jaguar and Land Rover models.
