Huya\u00a0is the first official partner from China of UNDP\u2019s Mission 1.5 campaign, which was launched in New York City earlier this year.<\/p>\n
Guangzhou-headquartered\u00a0Huya\u00a0owns one of the largest live-streaming sites in China, with\u00a0150\u00a0million unique users per month, which will help the game reach millions of new players.<\/p>\n
The partnership was announced on the 50th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of Earth Day, an annual event for citizens around the world to show their support for protecting the Earth. The theme this year is climate action and will see the digital landscape fill with conversations about climate change.<\/p>\n The partnership also saw superstar gamers Gu Ying and Rita announced as Mission 1.5 Champions – helping to bring the game to their many fans.<\/p>\n Gu Yingsaid:\u00a0\u201cMi<\/em>ssion 1.5 is a really fun way to learn about all the different ways to help stop climate change during this time of COVID-19 when many people are staying at home. I think people in China will really enjoy it. I\u2019m very proud to become a Mission 1.5 Champion and to be part of a growing movement spreading the word about the game.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Rita\u00a0said:\u00a0\u201cMission 1.5 is teaching me many things about climate change. The most interesting was to find out that women and vulnerable people commonly face higher risks from climate change.
