{"id":52669,"date":"2020-03-02T20:13:23","date_gmt":"2020-03-02T18:13:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/?p=52669"},"modified":"2020-03-02T20:13:23","modified_gmt":"2020-03-02T18:13:23","slug":"50-electric-by-2025-says-porsche-canada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/50-electric-by-2025-says-porsche-canada\/","title":{"rendered":"50% electric by 2025, says Porsche Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">The Canadian office of the German car manufacturer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.porsche.com\/canada\/none\/\">Porsche<\/a>\u00a0has stated that half of its models will be electric by the year 2025.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In a TV interview with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bnnbloomberg.ca\/porsche-canada-ceo-half-of-our-cars-will-be-electric-in-5-years-1.1392016\">BNN Bloomberg<\/a>, Marc Ouayoun, President and CEO, commented that, whilst remaining agile and aware of different markets\u2019 requirements would remain part of the company\u2019s strategy, the writing was on the wall.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cIt\u2019s clear within the next five years, we believe, that 50% of our cars will be electric,\u201d he said. Porsche Canada\u2019s line of thinking is congruous with national (and global) trends, which are in favour of developing EV infrastructure and phasing out petrol\/diesel engines.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cA couple of years ago, we really thought about sports cars: how do we imagine our future because of new trends in sustainability, and we finally decided to go electric because that fits very well with the brand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Building the EV network<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">With one of the primary concerns regarding EVs remaining their battery range and the availability of charging points, several Canadian initiatives to develop infrastructure have emerged to address the problem.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">One such initiative which has partnered with Porsche Canada is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrify-canada.ca\/about-us\">Electrify Canada<\/a>\u00a0(EC). Originally founded by Electrify America in collaboration with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vw.ca\/en.html\">Volkswagen Canada<\/a>, EC is dedicated to building ultra-fast EV charging stations across Canada.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Retailer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadiantire.ca\/en.html\">Canadian Tire<\/a>\u00a0has also pledged to add roughly 300 charging points across its stores by 2021, with the government contributing CA$2.7mn to the construction costs.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Developments of this kind are vital &#8211; a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mobilesyrup.com\/2019\/01\/08\/canada-electirc-vehicle-statistics-ev-canada\/\">2019 survey<\/a>\u00a0by insurance company\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gocompare.com\/\">Go Compare<\/a>\u00a0estimated that there were approximately 24,000 EVs on Canadian roads, yet less than 6,000 charging stations across the country (a ratio of 4:1).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Offering an attractive charging option<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Meanwhile, in Europe, Porsche has opened the continent\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.porsche.com\/en\/2020\/company\/porsche-turbo-charging-europes-most-powerful-rapid-charging-park-leipzig-19995.html\">largest and fastest EV charging park<\/a>\u00a0to date.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Featuring 16 charging points (12 x 350kW DC and four x 22kW AC), the company\u2019s Porsche Turbo Charging station is part of expanding EV infrastructure in Germany.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cElectric and hybrid vehicles of all brands are welcome,\u201d said Gerd Rupp, Chairman of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.porsche-leipzig.com\/en\/home\/\">Porsche Leipzig GmbH<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe are pleased that with the new charging park we can offer an attractive charging option for electric vehicle owners in Leipzig and the surrounding area, as well as transit passengers.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Canadian office of the German car manufacturer\u00a0Porsche\u00a0has stated that half of its models will be electric by the year 2025.
