Telecom Egypt (WE) copped the World Communication Awards (WCA) for 2019’s best corporate social responsibility initiative award for launching an e-linkage connecting all Health Ministry\u2019s blood banks nationwide.<\/p>\n
WE \u2013 which is the first Egyptian company to win this prize \u2013 defeated five contenders that were running for the WCA\u2019s Social Contribution Award.<\/p>\n
Chairperson of WE\u2019s social responsibility department Naglaa Noseir received the WCA\u2019s Social Contribution Award during a ceremony held this week in London to honor the winners.<\/p>\n
WE\u2019s national project was meant to upgrade communication services in order to develop the Egyptian community.<\/p>\n
The project enabled \u2013 for the first time – the Health Ministry\u2019s decision-makers to know shortage and surplus of blood in over 200 blood banks on the spot.<\/p>\n
WE\u2019s CEO Adel Hamed has previously expounded that \u00a0\u201cthe company\u2019s role is not confined to its missions in the communications sector, the company is, however, exerting efforts to realize economic and social development at all levels.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe company is adopting a strategy based on sustainability in line with Egypt Vision 2030. The company spared no effort to support initiatives and forums which promote interaction among all social strata. These overtures are part of our social role as a national company seeking to serve all social categories in order to raise people\u2019s standards of living,\u201d Hamed said.<\/p>\n
Hamed added that WE spearheaded a large number of social initiatives and forums over the past years to develop various sectors, topped by health, education, woman empowerment, youth and handicapped people, referring to the initiatives on helping deaf people through cochlear implant, developing kidney dialysis units for children in Upper Egypt and supporting the technological infrastructure of hospitals of Ain Shams University.<\/p>\n
The 2019 World Communication Awards celebrated achievement and innovation across the full breadth of the telecommunications industry.<\/p>\n
This year saw more entries across more 25 categories than ever before.<\/p>\n
“The World Communication Awards help to shine a spotlight on the key topics and emerging trends in the industry,” said a spokesperson for the WCA Judging Panel .<\/p>\n
“With the first rollouts of 5G in early markets across the world, and a sharpened focus on full fiber infrastructure it’s been a busy but hugely important year for operators and vendors alike,” the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n
About 550 companies from more than 35 states worldwide were vying for WCA.<\/p>\n
The winners list included Liquid Telecom, Red Hat, PCCW Global, Digicel Group, NTT Communications, Nokia, Telia Carrier AB, KT, DriveNets, Huawei, JT Group, Singtel, SK Telecom, Netcracker Technology, Vmware, Singtel, Evolvong Systems, KT, Reliance Jio Infocomm, iBASIS Stark, Enrique Blanco Telefonica and UFINET.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
