The Dubai Municipality launched an industrial waste water treatment plant – the first of its kind as it depends on up-to-date technology and Artificial Intelligence. The plant will produce 450,000 liters of irrigation water daily when it operates at full capacity.<\/p>\n
The plant is meant to contribute to attaining Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which call for saving water in order to be able to confront climate change and water scarcity.<\/p>\n
Dawoud Al Hajiri, the director general of Dubai Municipality, said the Jebel Ali plant is one of the pioneering and innovative projects implemented by the Dubai Municipality.<\/p>\n
He said the new facility will buttress the UAE’s efforts to turn to green economy. The plant will be able to treat 600 cubic meter of liquid waste per day, using the latest technology and Artificial Intelligence.<\/p>\n
He said the plant has the capacity to treat various types of hazardous industrial waste, including acid and petroleum wastes, liquid wastes containing oils, fats and grease and effluents containing high percentages of heavy metals or toxic components.<\/p>\n
For his part, Abdul Majeed Abdul Aziz Saifaie, the director of Waste Management Department, said about 75 percent of the waste water will be treated to be suitable for irrigation, thus saving potable water.<\/p>\n
Saifaie expounded that the water treatment facility is fit out with an Artificial Intelligence system, which contains intelligent sensors capable of assessing the quality of water going through various units of the station.<\/p>\n
This technology helps accomplishing the whole process of water treatment without human intervention, he added.<\/p>\n
He noted that safe disposal of waste, especially hazardous waste which may have an impact on human health and the environment, poses a challenge to the authorities concerned in various world countries.<\/p>\n
He said the establishment of the plant goes in line with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and contributes to fulfilling the environmental objectives of the National Agenda and the Dubai 2021 Plan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
