{"id":119032,"date":"2026-08-26T19:24:53","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T16:24:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/?p=119032"},"modified":"2026-08-26T19:24:53","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T16:24:53","slug":"microsoft-aker-solutions-team-up-to-accelerate-carbon-capture-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/microsoft-aker-solutions-team-up-to-accelerate-carbon-capture-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft, Aker Solutions team up to accelerate carbon capture projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/qcells-microsoft-take-solar-alliance-into-ai-power\/\">Microsoft<\/a> and Aker Solutions have signed an agreement to support the development and execution of carbon capture and storage (CCS) and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects globally.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Under the agreement, Aker Solutions will work with project developers, emitters, transport and storage providers, industry stakeholders and governments to advance projects, reduce execution risks and strengthen investment readiness, including through potential CDR credits.<\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Combining digital, engineering expertise:<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The collaboration brings together Microsoft&#8217;s expertise in digital technologies, data, artificial intelligence (AI), monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV), and carbon markets with Aker Solutions&#8217; techno-economic advisory services and end-to-end engineering, procurement and construction capabilities.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">As selected CCS and CDR projects move toward final investment decisions (FID), the companies will provide integrated engineering and execution support, giving developers a single pathway from early-stage feasibility studies through to operations.<\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Supporting projects from concept to execution:<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cMany carbon capture and removal projects face similar challenges as they move from concept to reality,\u201d said Kjetel Digre, CEO of Aker Solutions.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cAs the market matures, success will depend on strong collaboration across the value chain. Joining forces with Microsoft, we aim to help project developers navigate complexity, strengthen business cases, and support the next wave of CCS and CDR projects,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Microsoft targets carbon-negative operations:<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Microsoft has pledged to become carbon negative by 2030 and remove its historical emissions by 2050.
