Alexandria Fertilizers Company (AlexFert) is expanding its use of renewable energy through a 30-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SolarizEgypt, bringing 1 MW of solar power to its production facility in Alexandria.<\/p>\n

The project is expected to generate around 1.58 GWh of clean electricity annually, helping AlexFert reduce the electricity it draws from Egypt\u2019s national grid by an estimated 4.2%.<\/p>\n

718 tons of CO2 avoided each year:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The solar project is expected to avoid nearly 718 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually, adding up to approximately 21,528 metric tons over the 30-year agreement.<\/p>\n

The project forms part of AlexFert\u2019s efforts to integrate renewable energy into its industrial operations while strengthening the energy resilience of its production activities.<\/p>\n

Turning clean energy into measurable impact:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under the agreement, AlexFert will receive clean and reliable electricity without an upfront capital investment. SolarizEgypt will finance, develop, own, operate, and maintain the solar plant throughout the agreement.<\/p>\n

The shift to solar power combines environmental and operational benefits by reducing AlexFert\u2019s dependence on grid electricity while supporting more efficient and resilient industrial operations.<\/p>\n

Alaa el-Banna, Chairman of AlexFert, said the agreement represents a practical step in the company\u2019s strategy to improve the sustainability and efficiency of its industrial operations.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy integrating renewable energy into our production facilities, we are strengthening the long-term resilience of our energy system and reducing our reliance on electricity from the national grid by around 4.2% annually, alongside supporting the transition toward cleaner and more sustainable industrial operations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Sustainability across the portfolio:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The project also reflects Valmore Holding\u2019s focus on integrating sustainability across its portfolio companies.<\/p>\n

Jon Rokk, CEO of Valmore Holding, said the company\u2019s approach extends beyond capital investment to enabling its subsidiaries to develop more efficient, resilient, and sustainable business models.<\/p>\n

He pointed to the project\u2019s expected avoidance of around 718 metric tons of CO2 emissions<\/a> each year as an example of how sustainability initiatives can deliver measurable operational and environmental outcomes.<\/p>\n

SolarizEgypt on clean energy:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ayman Waheed, CEO of SolarizEgypt, said the transition to clean energy requires practical solutions designed around the needs of industrial companies.<\/p>\n
