Sawiris Foundation<\/a> and Banque Misr Foundation for Community Development<\/a> have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand the third phase of the “Bab Amal” (Door of Hope) program in Sohag, bringing support to 465 additional vulnerable families and increasing the total number of beneficiary households to 2,520.<\/p>\n

Implemented by the Egyptian Association for Human Development, the program helps families transition out of extreme poverty through an integrated model built around livelihoods, social protection, financial inclusion and social empowerment.<\/p>\n

Scaling a proven model:<\/h3>\n

Under the partnership, Sawiris Foundation will continue to provide technical and financial oversight, while Banque Misr Foundation for Community Development will support the expansion and strengthen implementation through technical and financial supervision.<\/p>\n

Launched in 2018, “Bab Amal” is Egypt’s adaptation of the internationally recognized Graduation Approach developed by the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development. The program has reached more than 13,000 of the poorest families across Upper Egypt.<\/p>\n

Leaders back long-term collaboration:<\/h3>\n

Sawiris Foundation Co-Founder and Vice Chairman Naguib Sawiris said tackling multidimensional poverty requires partnerships that combine expertise and resources to scale proven development models and help vulnerable families achieve economic independence.<\/p>\n

Banque Misr Chairman and Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees Essam El Wakeel said the partnership reflects the Foundation’s commitment to sustainable, people-centered development through economic empowerment, livelihood support and capacity building.<\/p>\n

Supporting Egypt’s development agenda:<\/h3>\n

The expansion aligns with Sawiris Foundation’s 2023\u20132028 strategy to reduce multidimensional poverty and strengthen partnerships with government and development organizations.<\/p>\n

It also builds on Banque Misr Foundation’s community development strategy. Since 2007, the Foundation has supported nearly 1.5 million beneficiaries through programs spanning economic empowerment, education, healthcare, women’s empowerment and support for persons with disabilities<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
