The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Egypt and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA)<\/a> have launched the Green Link Task Force, a multi-stakeholder platform aimed at strengthening coordination across Egypt’s green economy ecosystem and accelerating the growth of green micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The initiative was unveiled during the inaugural Green Link Task Force roundtable, which brought together representatives from government institutions, entrepreneurship support organizations, development partners, financial institutions, academia, civil society, the international community, and green enterprises to explore opportunities for advancing green entrepreneurship in Egypt.<\/p>\n

Coordinating Egypt’s green transition:<\/h3>\n

The Green Link Task Force comes as Egypt advances its sustainability and climate agenda under Egypt Vision 2030 and the National Climate Change Strategy.<\/p>\n

While efforts are underway across green innovation, climate technologies, sustainable finance, green skills development, and enterprise support, the platform aims to strengthen coordination by aligning priorities, fostering collaboration, and translating innovation and investment into greater impact for green enterprises.<\/p>\n

The Task Force will serve as a consultative and coordination mechanism, bringing together government entities, ecosystem support organizations, financial institutions, academia, civil society, development partners, youth actors, and green enterprises to exchange knowledge and develop practical solutions that enable green MSMEs to grow and scale.<\/p>\n

Green enterprises at core:<\/h3>\n

MSMEDA CEO Bassel Rahmy said the launch reflects the agency’s shared commitment with UNDP Egypt to advancing innovation, strengthening partnerships, and supporting green enterprises as drivers of sustainable development, job creation, and climate resilience.<\/p>\n

“At MSMEDA, we believe that the transition to a green economy represents not only an environmental imperative but also a significant opportunity for economic growth, innovation, and job creation. Micro, small, and medium enterprises are at the heart of this transition. They have the potential to drive sustainable solutions, create green jobs, and contribute meaningfully to Egypt’s climate and development objectives,” Rahmy said.<\/p>\n

“In line with Egypt Vision 2030 and the national agenda for sustainable development, MSMEDA is committed to supporting entrepreneurs and enterprises in adopting greener business models, improving resource efficiency and accessing new market opportunities,” he added.<\/p>\n

Platform for collaboration:<\/h3>\n

UNDP Egypt Resident Representative Chitose Noguchi said the initiative aims to create a platform where stakeholders can align efforts to support Egypt’s green transition.<\/p>\n

“Egypt’s green transition presents a unique opportunity to drive sustainable economic growth, create jobs, and foster innovation,” Noguchi said.<\/p>\n

“Through the Green Link Task Force, we are creating a space for partners across the ecosystem to align priorities, share knowledge, and mobilize collective action that can translate ambition into tangible impact. By working together, we can create a more enabling environment for green enterprises and MSMEs to start, grow, and scale, and accelerate Egypt’s journey toward a more resilient and sustainable future,” she added.<\/p>\n

Supporting green growth:<\/h3>\n

Through coordinated action, strategic partnerships, and knowledge sharing, the Green Link Task Force aims to strengthen Egypt’s green economy ecosystem and create a more enabling environment for green enterprises.<\/p>\n

The platform will identify common priorities, strengthen the capacities of ecosystem actors, facilitate partnerships, and support the development of solutions that unlock green growth, innovation, and decent employment opportunities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
