Orange Egypt has launched an immersive environmental engagement program for its employees on Cairo’s Qursaya Island in partnership with Dayma Foundation, as part of its World Environment Day 2026 celebrations. The initiative, held under the theme “Inspired by Nature… For the Climate… For Our Future,” reflects the company’s broader efforts to strengthen employee participation in sustainability and climate action.<\/p>\n

The program was organized within the framework of Orange Group’s global “Engage for Change” platform, which aims to encourage employees to adopt more responsible environmental and social practices while supporting the Group’s commitment to decarbonization, emissions<\/a> reduction, and sustainable growth.<\/p>\n

Employees take part in hands-on climate learning:<\/h4>\n

The initiative brought together employees from across Orange Egypt’s business functions, including participation from Hisham Mehran, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Orange Egypt.<\/p>\n

Designed to strengthen climate awareness and ecological understanding, the program connected participants directly with the realities of climate change through practical, nature-based learning experiences. The activities aimed to deepen employees’ understanding of environmental challenges and encourage the adoption of sustainable behaviors both in the workplace and in their daily lives.<\/p>\n

Qursaya Island activities highlight biodiversity, climate resilience:<\/h4>\n

The program featured a series of interactive activities focused on environmental education and ecosystem awareness.<\/p>\n

Participants explored local ecosystems on Qursaya Island to better understand the impact of climate change on vulnerable environments and monitored biodiversity within natural habitats. The initiative also included specialized workshops on carbon footprint awareness and reduction, alongside practical sessions focused on nature-based solutions and biomimicry methodologies to illustrate concepts of environmental resilience and sustainability.<\/p>\n

Company highlights progress on decarbonization strategy:<\/h4>\n

As part of the event, Orange Egypt showcased its ongoing efforts, alongside Orange Group, to reduce carbon emissions and accelerate the transition toward a more sustainable operating model.<\/p>\n

The company highlighted initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency across telecommunications networks and data centers, expanding the use of renewable energy sources, and deploying technologies that help reduce the environmental impact of its operations.<\/p>\n

“Trust the Future” strategy targets carbon neutrality by 2040:<\/h4>\n

Orange also outlined progress under its global “Trust the Future” strategy, which places climate action and decarbonization at the center of the Group’s sustainability agenda.<\/p>\n

The strategy aims to achieve full carbon neutrality by 2040 through reducing both direct and indirect emissions across Orange’s operations and developing more efficient and sustainable business models across all markets where the Group operates.<\/p>\n

Technology sector has role in building low-carbon economy:<\/h4>\n

Orange Egypt emphasized that the role of technology and telecommunications companies extends beyond providing digital services to actively supporting environmental protection and the transition to a low-carbon economy.<\/p>\n

The company said technology can play a key role in improving resource efficiency, reducing emissions, and increasing environmental awareness among employees and communities.<\/p>\n
