The United Kingdom and Australia have contributes about $ 22 million to support the efforts exerted by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP)<\/a> to promote sustainable development during 2024.<\/p>\n

The UK has contributed GBP11 million (approximately $ 13.9 million) in core resources to the UNDP for 2024. This critical support enables UNDP to continue its efforts in advancing sustainable development across 170 countries and territories, and ensures that vital resources are directed to where they are most needed.<\/p>\n

With this financial support, UNDP will enhance its efforts to tackle pressing global issues such as the climate and nature crisis, poverty alleviation, and strengthening governance. As the world faces significant challenges, including conflicts and disasters, this funding is crucial to save lives, protect livelihoods, and maintain developmental progress.<\/p>\n

This important contribution will also strengthen UNDP’s initiatives to ensure that no one is left behind while upholding the highest standards of transparency and accountability. UNDP consistently receives recognition as one of the most transparent international organizations, a distinction made possible by ongoing support through its core resources provided by partners like the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

The Government of Australia has recently contributed AUD 13 million ($ 8.4m) to UNDP\u2019s regular (core) resources for 2024. This substantial contribution demonstrates Australia\u2019s continued commitment to sustainable development and to its partnership with UNDP. Core resources are vital for UNDP to support countries in achieving their national development goals and in addressing global challenges like climate change, poverty reduction, and resilience in vulnerable regions, particularly in Pacific Small Island Developing States (SIDS).<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s support will enable UNDP to continue its essential work across 170 countries and territories, including complex crises such as those in Myanmar and Afghanistan. The funding will play a key role in implementing development-focused solutions that help prevent violent conflict and promote peacebuilding efforts, aligning with the broader goals of the United Nations for stability and prosperity.<\/p>\n
