Silo Foods Industries managed to break the Guinness World Record as the largest distributor of school snack packages in less than a year in light of the directives issued by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in 2021 to expand nutritious school meal project.
As the president is deeply interested in providing students nationwide with nutritious school meals in order to ensure their proper physical and mental development, the company managed to achieve the Guinness World Record as the largest distributor of school snack packages in the period from September 2021 until June 2022 with 600,426,453 packages.
Silo Foods Industries, an affiliate of the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO) of the Armed Forces, is the first food industries city in the Middle East.
During the inauguration of the second stage of the Silo Foods Industries city in Sadat City in Menoufiya governorate, President Sisi lauded Silo Foods for increasing the number of students benefiting from school meals from 13.5 million to 15 million students.
The president also extolled the company for increasing the number of schools receiving school meals from 31,000 schools to 33,000 schools.
It is worth mentioning that the president directed in 2021 to develop the nutritious school meals system nationwide in compliance with all food safety regulations and standards, encouraging partnership between private sector companies having experience in this domain and food business in order to achieve a remarkable performance and maintain sustainability.
The school meals project covers around 23 million students across the country in cooperation and coordination among all government agencies concerned to ensure spreading a system that matches the best international models and to provide school meals to include all school years across all governorates.
The first stage of Silo Foods was inaugurated by President Sisi in August 2021 with an aim to provide school meals for 13 million students nationwide.
Marking the second stage of Silo Foods, the president called for increasing production as well as the number of students who benefit from the school nutrition project.
Silo Foods city includes nine factories that use the latest technology and high-tech industrial facilities, 14-grain silos and a comprehensive printing complex for packaging eco-friendly products.
With about 500,000 ton production of food commodities annually, Silo Foods products are exported to 13 Arab and African countries, NSPO Chairman Walid Hussein Abul-Magd.
The factories of the second phase contribute to producing 200,000 tons of dairy products, 16,000 tons of halva, and 7,800 tons of dunking and biscuits annually. Moreover, the second stage includes a recycling station to counter the negative impacts of climate change.
The project is meant to enhance food security, offer more meals to school students and generate more jobs in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which Egypt pursues.
