President Abdel Fattah El Sisi pledges to examine means of launching a digital trade platform in Egypt.
He made the remarks while commenting on a speech by the head of the Universal Postal Union at the inauguration of the Cairo International Exhibition and Conference on Telecommunication and Information Technology (ICT 2019).
Sisi said he is committed to supporting the launch of the digital trade platform in collaboration with the private sector to realize more progress in Egypt and Africa as a whole.
He added that there is a great opportunity for developing digitalization in Egypt, stressing that Egypt is keen on moving ahead in this respect.
He added that Egypt is a major market with its 100 million population.
He said “We as a state is spearheading towards digitalization to realize the aspired progress, especially when it comes to governance, reducing human intervention in government work, and combating corruption.”
Meanwhile, he said Egypt welcomes hosting the upcoming international postal conference, noting that the state will provide all needed facilities and realize further development in order to upgrade the administrative system’s performance in all scores.
For his part, President of the Universal Postal Union Bashar Hussein commended Egypt’s solid, durable and developed communications network that resembles those existing in developed states.
He said the communication revolution has altered the way of transactions worldwide as one can purchase any product anywhere via the internet.
Around 500 international and local companies are taking part in the Cairo ICT which is held under the slogan of “The Digital Experience.”
On the fringe of the four-day event, several forums will be held including the 6th edition of Pafix which is concerned with financial inclusion, the 4th edition of Innovation Arena during which participants present innovative solutions, and Intelli-Cities that offer modern technologies for urban communities and houses.
