Schneider Electric has issued the 2018 – 2020 Schneider Sustainability Impact (SSI) report to highlight the progress realized so far in proceeding with its sustainability march.
The quarterly issued report is a collection of the company’s sustainability goals, grouped under five megatrends.
Schneider Electric uses the SSI to share and measure its progress toward its own sustainability objectives, which are closely tied to the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Schneider Electric developed 21 initiatives to support the 17 UN SDGs which are meant to protect the planet, alleviate poverty, and achieve worldwide peace and justice.
Schneider Electric upholds its commitments to the SDGs and establishes itself as an industry leader in corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Beyond the SSI, the company also instills a culture around sustainability through performance incentives for employees and leadership. These incentives encourage leaders to prioritize decisions that improve sustainability performance and uphold the SDGs.
Up to 20 percent of the variable portion of its leadership’s performance shares depend on achieving SSI targets. In addition, over 10,000 employees in France are incentivized through the SSI.
Schneider Electric is scheduled to achieve carbon neutrality across its extended supply chain by 2030.
By 2050, the company will realize a 60 percent absolute CO2 reduction for Scopes 1 and 2, meaning, respectively, its direct CO2 emissions and its indirect CO2 emissions from energy it purchased.
The company’s 2020 goals also include having 80% renewable electricity and 10% CO2 efficiency in transportation.
The 2020 goals also seek that 120 million metric tons of CO2 avoided on the company’s customers’ end through its offers.
The company has also targeted 25% increase in turnover for its EcoStruxure™ Energy & Sustainability Services.
By 2025, Schneider Electric will deliver low-carbon lighting and communication solutions to 50 million people.
The company will also provide energy skills to one million underprivileged people.
Under the 2020 goals, 400,000 underprivileged people were trained in energy management.
The company’s goals for 2020 include 200 sites labeled toward zero waste to landfill in addition to 100%cardboard and pallets for transport packing from recycled or certified sources
Since 2015, the company offers are based on the Schneider ecoDesign Way™, which ensures its products are easy to maintain, repair, retrofit, and reprocess at the end of their life cycles.
The company has also labeled 178 sites as “toward zero waste to landfill.”
Schneider Electric’s employee well-being program has been deployed globally since 2015.
It takes a holistic view of well-being, spanning physical, mental, emotional, and social dimensions. In addition, the company ensures gender pay equity across its value chain.
The company’s 2020 goals aim to get 90% of employees to have access to a comprehensive well-being at work program.
Under the company’s goals, 100% of workers received 15 hours of learning in the year with 30% digital learning.
About 90% of white-collar workers have an individual development plan.
Moreover, 95% of employees are working in a country with a commitment and process in place to achieve gender pay equity.
The company’s VolunteerIn global platform managed to record 15,000 volunteering days.
“More than ever, in 2019, the SSI demonstrates that rapid, disruptive changes for a more sustainable world are possible across diverse and complex topics. I am amazed by the commitment of our teams and partners worldwide to contribute to our common goals, and confident we are on the right path with efforts validated by external experts. This year will be pivotal in pushing to reach ambitious targets and inviting stakeholders to help define the 2021 – 2025 SSI, in line with the SDGs.” – Olivier Blum, Chief Strategy & Sustainability Officer, Schneider Electric
“We work to advance the U.N. SDGs every day. They are a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for all people and our planet. Achieving them requires global partnerships to transform our world by 2030 and beyond. The SDGs form the basis of our SSI, which guides our contributions toward tackling climate change, ending poverty, improving health, and reducing inequality. We invite you to explore this report to see how our actions help advance these global efforts.” Gilles Vermot Desroches, Sustainable Development Senior Vice President, Schneider Electric.
