The Saudi German Hospital organized a breast cancer awareness day under the patronage of the hospital’s CEO Dr Sherif Foad within the framework of the pink month of October which is the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The event was attended by a large number of breast cancer fighters and recovered women, topped by media woman Lina Shaker and artist Yasmine Gheith.
Also, Harp player at the Cairo Opera House Yasmine Harbi attended the event alongside Director of Breast Cancer Hospital of the National Cancer Institute Dr Emad Shash.
During the event, Dr Sherif Fouad said the event was held within the framework of the hospital’s belief in the importance of shouldering its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and spreading awareness about breast cancer as well as means of supporting the patients and their families and the stages of treatment.
The hospital organized the event as part of backing an initiative launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for supporting women Health and early detection of breast cancer, he said.
The hospital gives a top priority for supporting social health initiatives.
Fouad said the event also aims to change the community’s standpoint on cancer and means of dealing with it, calling for encouraging cancer patients to talks about their disease and get all needed support to go through the different stages of treatment.
He underlined the importance of early detection of the disease and selecting the best treatment option and this was the objective of the president’s initiative as well as the hospital.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mohamed Hablas, the Regional Director of Saudi German Hospitals in Egypt and North Africa, said supporting breast cancer patients as well as the presidential initiative for women health is the duty of all health institutions in society.
For his part, Dr Emad Shash – Director of Breast Cancer Hospital of the National Cancer Institute – said a lot of erroneous information about breast cancer is spreading in the society.
He underlined the importance of getting the right information from medical sources, adding that breast cancer can be treated in early stage with commitment to certain medical and food system.
It is worth mentioning that the average of recovery from breast cancer detected in early stage stood at 98 percent.
