Manpower Minister Mohamed Saafan said effective partnership between the private sector and the Egyptian government became indispensable to realize sustainable development.
Saafan made the remarks on Monday during the 10th annual Forum for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainable Development – known as CSR Forum.
The event was held under the theme of “Responsible Investment Gate for Recovering and Overcoming Crises.”
He said realizing sustainable development requires social and economic integration, referring to several partnerships and activities in the field of CSR that backed the last goals of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 17) on enhancing global partnerships.
He added that this will also contribute to implementing Egypt Vision 2030.
He added that the private sector is a key partner of the government in achieving sustainable development.
He accentuated that CSR is no more an affectionate role for supporting poor people and orphanages; it became, however, a moral and social commitment to render successful the development march.
He added that enriching the social role and shouldering responsibility will help promote local development and increase production.
Saafan said COVID-19 pandemic is an international crisis that requires joining hands to overcome it.
Egypt seeks to realize balance between protecting people’s health and keeping the wheel of production going on.
He added that the government engaged in several partnerships, backed private companies and adopted financial policies in order to enhance the social role and realize sustainable development.
He underlined the importance of focusing on securing all needed support for citizens, expounding that this can never be attained without partnership between the government, the private sector and the civil society organizations.
He stressed the importance of having centers for backing poor strata in society as this would help realizing development on the ground.
He added that the Ministries of Social Solidarity, Youth and Sports, and Finance should join hands to act in line with the presidential directives on buttressing needy people via direct contact with the ministries so that people would enjoy decent life.
