PepsiCo’s Replay initiative has launched the first sustainable football pitch in Egypt and the seventh in the world.
The company has launched a global initiative for establishing sustainable football pitches made from empty bags of Lay’s chips and Chipsy – brands of PepsiCo company – and packaging materials.
After the success of Lay’s RePlay in six locations including South Africa, UK, Brazil, Italy, Mexico and the US, it is time for the company to unveil the latest addition to the RePlay Family in Egypt with opening Chipsy Replay sustainable football pitch in Mansheyet Nasser, Cairo, under the slogan of changing the game.
Three million of empty chipsy packs were used for building the football pitch in Egypt to positively affect both the community and the planet.
The launch of Chipsy Egypt RePlay aims to bring joy to communities around the world through the power of football.
The goal of RePlay is to increase access to football for good activities to support the development of social skills and societal values within the community.
The company has collaborated with UEFA Foundation for Children and Common Goal, alongside the Association For The Protection Of The Environment (A.P.E.) Egypt and Aspire Training Solutions, to promote accessibility to sports for youth in Mansheyet Nasser. With projects like this, Chipsy RePlay has helped turn used Chipsy bags into a safe environment for the whole community to engage in the love of the game.
Board Chairman of the PepsiCo company of North Africa Mohamed Shelbaya said the company is proud of launching the initiative in Egypt to contribute to curbing the negative impact on the environment in collaboration with international and local partners to build comprehensive programs contributing to realize positive change for the coming generations.
The initiative will also bring joy to the community through practicing the most favorable sport; football.
The event was attended by Secretary General of the UEFA Foundation for Children URS Kluser, Co-founder of Aspire Training Solutions Tamer Isaac, Board Chairperson A.P.E. Egypt Syada Greiss and renowned Egyptian footballer Ahmed Hossam (Mido) – the initiative’s ambassador.
A cluster of football stars, including Mohamed Zidan, Mohamed Nagi Gedo, and Sayyed Mo’wad, marked the event alongside a number of public figures and mediamen.
