Orascom Construction Company awarded 93 scholarships for Egyptian students under Onsi Sawiris program since its launch in 2000.
Since 2000, Orascom Construction has partnered with the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development to award these scholarships to Egyptian students.
Previous candidates have attended top US institutions, including Harvard University, Stanford University, the University of Chicago, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania.
The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program provides scholarships to undergraduate and post-graduate Egyptian students to attend prestigious universities in the United States in fields that contribute to economic development of Egypt.
The scholarships cover full tuition, living allowance, travel allowance and health insurance. Students are selected based on character and merit as demonstrated through academic excellence, extracurricular activities and entrepreneurial initiative.
The winners of scholarships in the 2022-2023 academic year are Ahmed Muharram and Yasmine Abou Ali.
Muharram is due to study at Pennsylvania University. He was graduated from King Fahd Language School and aspires to help the community where he lives.
Muharram was the head of an educational directorate of 18 schools and he was an active player in organizing annual school ceremonies to collect donations in order to help orphanages and serve other humanitarian issues.
Muharram is also the founder of and board chairman of the TEDxYouth King Fahd School. Thanks to the strenuous efforts exerted by him and his team, this online event managed to benefit over 89,000 people.
Also, Yasmine Abou Ali is the second winner of the 2022-2023 scholarship and is scheduled to study at Harvard University. She obtained the bachelor degree from the American University in Cairo in business administration. In parallel, she also got the bachelor of laws from the Cairo University. She is registered as a lawyer at the Egyptian Bar Association.
After graduation, she started her career in business administration to contribute to the march of Egypt’s development in addition to developing her skills in the fields of finance and law.
Abou Ali joined HC Securities and Investment as a banking investment analyst. She is now working as an investment expert at Actis Company.
