Nissan ESG data book comprehensively summarizes all initiatives adopted by the company to proceed with its efforts to cater for its ESG commitments, such as reducing carbon footprint across the value chain, promoting a circular economy, championing diversity, equity, and inclusion, and respecting human rights.
Nissan is committed toward a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive world and provides transparent disclosure of environmental, social and governance data.
The period covered by the book coincides with the concluding year of Nissan’s 2018-2022 sustainability strategy, Nissan Sustainability 2022. Over this period, Nissan achieved targets in major areas, including CO2 emissions reductions from new vehicles in addition to promoting the innovation and adoption of safety performance-related technologies toward a world of zero traffic fatalities. Nissan has issued annual sustainability reports since 2004 and will issue its first integrated report this fiscal year*.
Joji Tagawa, Nissan’s chief sustainability officer, notes: “More than ever, our stakeholders are placing greater importance on tangible action and transparent data to ensure that companies are delivering on their ESG commitments. Our ESG data book is part of our continuous stakeholder dialogue that helps to build understanding of our contributions in these critical areas and to strengthen trust among our stakeholders.”
Makoto Uchida, Nissan President and CEO, regards ESG as a vital part of the company’s overall strategy, saying “it is more important than ever that our corporate purpose is embedded in all our endeavors to build a more sustainable organization that is truly needed by customers and society. I am confident we will continue to drive innovation, empower mobility, and set a successful stage for future generations as we work together toward our goals.”
The period covered by the data book coincides with the final year of the Nissan Sustainability 2022 including Nissan Green Program 2022. It also reflects the ongoing priorities of Nissan Ambition 2030. The strategic goal our sustainability strategy is to enhance Nissan’s environmental performance, to ensure the highest standards of respecting human rights in social aspects, and to strengthen corporate governance.
“We hope that the information and data provided offers an easy-to-read guide to Nissan ESG, which is an area of continuous development and innovation. We welcome stakeholder feedback on the contents,” Uchida said.
Nissan will continue to address material priorities—including enhancing vehicle electrification, augmenting inclusive mobility solutions, and championing human rights—in line with its corporate purpose of driving innovations to enrich people’s lives.
