Board Chairman of the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) Osama Okasha and President of Ain Shams University Mahmoud el Metini opened the largest auditorium at Ain Shams University after renovation.
Presidential Adviser for health affairs Awad Tageddin attended the inauguration ceremony alongside several high-ranking officials.
After opening Dr Mahlawi auditorium, Okasha said the bank upgraded the hall within the framework of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts in various domains.
He noted that the bank spent more than EGP 8.2 billion on CSR activities over the past six years under a sustainable social development strategy in various domains.
The bank’s CSR strategy aimed at improving the services offered to citizens, especially healthcare and education services which represent the main axes of the Egypt Vision 2030.
He added that the opening of the hall is a complementary step to the bank’s development of the Ain Shams University’s hospitals and lecture halls.
The bank contributed more than EGP 500 million to renovating the university’s hospitals that serve people, students and university staff.
For his part, Metini said the Mahlawi auditorium is the largest in the Ain Shams University as it can accommodate up to 1000 persons.
He expressed gratitude for the bank for its pivotal role in supporting the educational process in Egypt, noting that the bank is committed to playing its CSR role.
The head of the NBE’s marketing and CSR department Nermin el Shehabi said the bank has contributed about EGP 750 million to the educational sector.
She added that the bank spent about EGP 45 million for upgrading the Mahlawi auditorium.
She noted that the bank earmarked bout EGP 10 million to renovating Banhawi auditorium of the Ain Shams university.
She also referred to the bank’s efforts to overhaul Ain Shams University’s hospitals, especially the departments of the kidney dialysis unit, the reception and emergency department, tumors department, as well as the operations department of the Demerdash Hospital.
