The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and Banque Misr allocated EGP 130 million for developing the Menya University’s hospital under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts.
The two banks signed a cooperation protocol with the Menya University to channel these funds for implementing the first stage of developing the university’s hospital through establishing an affiliated building.
This affiliated building will include two operating rooms and an intensive care unit (ICU).
Marking the event, NBE Chairman Hisham Okasha said the protocol falls within the framework of the two banks’ remarkable social role in various development domains, especially the health sector.
He noted that the NBE’s allocations for CSR activities have exceeded EGP 6 billion over the past five years.
The bank seeks to serve society, especially through supporting the health and educational sectors which have a direct impact on the state development plans.
The bank’s contribution to the health sector stood at EGP 1.750 billion over the past five years, he said, noting that this strategy proved to have a positive impact in serving people.
Banque Misr Chairman Mohamed El Etribi said “the bank is interested in playing a pioneering role in the CSR score which is one of the main pillars for realizing comprehensive development in all social sectors, topped by the health, educational, cultural and environmental ones. This also helps in supporting most needy villages and female breadwinners.”
The bank works to reinforce state efforts in all development scores, particularly the health and education ones which represent a top priority for the state.
Banque Misr channeled EGP 760 million into CSR in the 2018-2019 fiscal year and a total of EGP 2.6 billion over the past five years, he said.
Meanwhile, Menya University President Moustafa Abdel Nabi applauded the role played by the NBE and Banque Misr in upgrading the hospital to offer better services to Menya people who stand at about 6 million people.
