Mars Wrigley signed a cooperation protocol with the Ahl Masr Foundation for Development for securing medical equipment at EGP 500,000; about 70 percent of the medical supplies will go to the Shebin el Kom university hospital and 30 percent to the Ahl Masr Trauma and Burn Hospital.
Dalia Salib, General Manager for Mars Egypt, said the company’s contribution to this project falls within the framework of continued efforts to promote social development, through securing medical and protective equipment to university hospitals.
She said Mars Wrigley believes that the private sector should play a role in buttressing the medical sector, especially in the times of crises, highlighting the importance of offering medical assistance and cooperating with various entities.
Salib added that “Mars Wrigley has adopted over the past 25 years a responsible investment strategy that has always been keen on having a positive impact on all communities where it works. Mars Wrigley is cooperating with Ahl Masr foundation to ensure continued support for medical teams until the crisis ends. This will facilitate providing medical services to the largest number of citizens, securing better life and achieving sustainable development goals.”
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, said the project underlines the interest of both Mars Wrigley and Ahl Masr Foundation for Development to continue to play their role in securing needed equipment for medical teams to facilitate their mission.
This underlines the role played by civil society for supporting the government in managing the coronavirus crisis which requires rallying up efforts, he said.
He commended the role played by Ahl Masr foundation since the outbreak of the coronavirus, stressing that collective and intensive efforts will help contain crises and protect people from the dangers of diseases in addition to enhancing health systems.
For her part, Heba El Sewedy, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at the Ahl Masr Foundation for Development, said the project crowns the efforts exerted by Ahl Masr Foundation to support the state plans to confront the coronvirus.
She said the role played by the foundation is a national duty and patriotic commitment, stressing the importance of adhering to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
