Maroon Group, a leading distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients across North America, has been granted for the third year in a row the Silver Level recognition from EcoVadis for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
Maroon Group has received EcoVadis certification for taking a proactive role in addressing Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability.
Through the comprehensive EcoVadis CSR assessment, Maroon Group was rated on 21 CSR indicators within Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement categories. After being evaluated on how well these CSR principals are integrated into its ISO certification and NACD Responsible Distribution practices, as well as its corporate policies and practices, Maroon Group was again presented with a Silver Level recognition.
EcoVadis’ mission is to make sustainability performance measurable, to make transparency a scalable and efficient process for both suppliers and customers, and to facilitate continuous improvement and innovation. The methodology for rating companies is built on the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and the ISO 26000, which covers 198 spend categories and 155 countries.
“The EcoVadis review is an important independent third-party assessment of our Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability programs,” Scott Simmons, Director of Safety, Compliance & Sustainability, said. “We are extremely proud to be again recognized by EcoVadis for our efforts in these areas. We take our responsibilities to our customers, communities, and employees seriously. The continued recognition from EcoVadis demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability. We look forward to continuing to grow our Corporate Social Responsibility program in 2020 and beyond.”
Maroon Group has thrived on creating success for customers by forming partnerships with leading manufacturers and supplying consistent products on time. Customers in the CARE, CASE, HI&I, Plastics, Specialty Intermediates, and Food markets have come to rely on Maroon Group’s technical sales team, exceptional customer service, and global sourcing capabilities.
Several days ago, Maroon Group announced that it became a certified member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).
As a certified member of RSPO, Maroon Group will partner with Certified Sustainable Palm Oil producers, which comply with a set of environmental and social criteria developed by RSPO. When following these criteria, the negative impact of palm oil cultivation on the environment and communities in palm-oil producing regions is minimized.
Maroon Group strives to be a great corporate citizen and takes pride in associating with companies that value sustainability and environmental responsibility. In addition to becoming a certified member of RSPO, Maroon Group is a member of the global initiatives EcoVadis and SQF, is an active member of NACD, and holds ISO and Responsible Distribution certification that covers every phase of chemical storage, handling, transportation, and disposal.
Maroon Group has also been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for its commitment to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and continuously work to progress as an environmental steward.
“RSPO certification illustrates Maroon’s commitment to formulating sustainable solutions,” Walter Martish III, President – Maroon Group CARE, said. “Full supply chain traceability will protect our customer’s brand and sustainable initiatives when using our Palm Kernel derived ingredients.”
