L’Oréal Egypt will donate thousands of sanitizer units under a solidarity program which was launched within the framework of the group’s global efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
“L’Oréal Egypt feels a deep responsibility to help address this crisis and to show solidarity with the community facing this exceptional situation, especially in vulnerable communities and towards those who are working at the frontlines of the battle. Our Cairo Plant worked around the clock with a committed spirit, to be able to provide some relief during this challenging time. The factory will continue to manufacture sanitizers as long as necessary”, said Benoit Julia, Managing Director of L’Oréal Egypt.
Within the framework of the solidarity program, L’Oréal’s Cairo Plant started production of hand sanitizers under its natural beauty brand Garnier, thus joining 28 L’Oréal plants around the globe to support community needs.
The L’Oréal Egypt COVID19 solidarity actions include donation of alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
The company will also provide 50,000 hand sanitizer units with an aim to support hospitals and healthcare professionals, who are on the front-line in the fight to curb the spread of coronavirus; nonprofit organizations who are committed to protect the more vulnerable population, food distribution stakeholders, who guarantee the essential needs of consumers, and salon partners.
The company will also donate hygiene, personal care and dermo-cosmetic products. More than 10,000 units of personal care and hygiene products will be distributed through non-profit organizations to support Covid-19 isolation hospitals medical teams and patients, in addition to vulnerable communities.
Further support to healthcare professionals includes contribution of La Roche-Posay dermo-cosmetic products to help them reduce the impact of extensive use of facemasks and hand sanitizers during their daily battle against the pandemic.
To show solidarity towards its small and medium size salon partners, L’Oréal will also provide safety and hygiene training to its partner salons, and provide them with alcohol-based hand sanitizers, and support them along the journey of reviving their businesses post pandemic period.
Globally, since mid-March, L’Oréal has actively responded to the emergency with a solidarity plan where approximately 14 million units of hand sanitizer and over 4.3 million products (hand moisturizer and shampoo) were donated to healthcare professionals and employees of its retail customers and suppliers. Garnier has contributed 1 million euros to support the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in addition to solidarity initiatives implemented by L’Oréal subsidiaries across the world.
