Japan’s Ambassador to Egypt, Hiroshi Oka, inspected JTI Egypt’s Nakhla Factory in Menoufia with an aim to highlight JTI’s commitment to supporting local communities through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, particularly in collaboration with Ketharet Dawood NGO.
The visit is meant to highlight significant Japanese investments in Egypt and posting the ambassador on JTI’s production lines showcasing the stringent quality standards, integral to the factory’s operations.
It also emphasized the strong relationship between Japan and Egypt through strategic investments and community support.
During the visit, Ambassador Oka participated in the closing ceremony of JTI’s CSR activity with Ketharet Dawood. This project, which JTI has supported since 2021 focused on the economic empowerment of women in the Menoufia Governorate, resulting in providing more than 100 beneficiaries with comprehensive training and development programs.
Commenting on the occasion, Mariana Magdy, General Manager of JTI Egypt, said “We are honored to host Ambassador Hiroshi Oka and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the Egyptian market and its people. Our investments go beyond business operations; they are about fostering community growth and supporting local initiatives, and this precisely what our partnership with Ketharet Dawood is all about.”

I believe organizations that support community-level needs like Ketharet Dawood Foundation are essential for Egypt’s development. I would like to take this moment to thank JTI Egypt and Ketharet Dawood Foundation for their excessive efforts in empowering women.”
For his part, Hisham El Gawly, CEO of Ketharet Dawood Foundation added, “Our partnership with JTI has significantly impacted the lives of many women in Menoufia Governorate. Thanks to JTI’s support, we were able to provide vital resources and training to help these women achieve greater economic independence and improve their livelihoods and that of their families.”
