International experts will take part in the first Annual Sustainability Conference organized by the Orman Association for charity works in tandem with the Federation for Egyptian Industries.
The four-day gathering is scheduled to be held in the Upper Egypt governorate of Luxor from January 16 to 19.
Dr. Djordjija Petkoski, a Lecturer and Senior Fellow at the Wharton Business School at University of Pennsylvania, will take part in the event alongside Maria Alexiou, Member of the Board of Directors – CSR Europe, and Aleksandar Sasha Bodiroza, the United Nations Fund for Population Activities(UNFPA) Representative and is responsible for leading the entire team and driving all elements of UNFPA operations in Egypt, the Orman Association director said.
Laurent De Boeck, Head of programs at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Egypt, will also participate in the get-together, Mamdouh Shaaban said.
The IOM and UNFPA are among the international Organization which are due to take part in the event, he added.
The conference will address several topics, topped by the pivotal role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in realizing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The conference will also tackle the role of non-governmental and private organizations in achieving sustainability and the Egypt Vision 2030.
The gathering will also review the challenges besetting sustainable development in Egypt.
The Orman Association organizes the event out of its of strong belief of the key role of civil society organizations in achieving sustainable development and giving hand to the state to cater for people’s needs.
Shaaban added that the get-together is meant also to underscore companies’ role in realizing sustainable development and magnifying its benefit.
Orman Association is an Egyptian charity established in 1993. It started its activities with one orphanage to provide care for orphans. Then, its activities have expanded to become one of the greatest charities in Egypt.
The association provides micro loans for needy people, especially females, to start small projects.
The association seeks to contribute to ongoing efforts to eradicate poverty, provide medication and other services that would help realizing sustainable development.
