The Global Vaccine Safety Summit is due to open later Monday to review the achievements realized by the Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety (GACVS) of the World Health Organization (WHO).
The two-day summit – organized by the WHO – will coincide with the 20th anniversary of the establishing the GACVS.
At the Summit, WHO will present the Global Vaccine Safety Blueprint 2.0 strategy 2021-2030 to key stakeholders and collect their input for the final version, due for publication in the new year.
The summit is meant to promote WHO’s efforts to develop vaccine safety as well as showcasing some of the world’s state-of-the-art vaccine safety science.
The summit’s agenda includes several lectures and panel discussions from medical experts about how the organization can best achieve its aim of advancing vaccine safety.
Current and former members of the Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety (GACVS) are scheduled to attend the event alongside immunization program managers, national regulatory authorities, pharmacovigilance staff from all WHO regions, and representatives of United Nations agencies, academic institutions, umbrella organizations of pharmaceutical companies, technical partners, industry representatives and funding agencies.
