The French company Saint Gobain opened a new eco-friendly production line of its mirrors factory in Egypt’s Ain Sokhna area at 8 million euros within the framework of the company’s expansion plans in the Middle East and Africa.
The deputy head of Egypt’s southern Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) Mohamed Shaaban said the French company has realized great success in the SCZone, underlining the zone’s support for investors who are partners in the development drive.
He noted that the factory’s production capacity is estimated at 6 million square kilometers with 50 percent of this output to be exported, a matter which will positively affect the SCZone.
Saint Gobain Glass Egypt Board Chairman Ahmed Tawfiq said the company has the largest glass production line in the Middle East and Africa, noting that the new mirror production line depends on environment-friendly top-notch technology, thus promoting the company’s march of success.
He added that the SCZone offered all needed facilities and investment incentives for the company to open this new production line.
With a 900-ton daily capacity of high quality glass, Saint-Gobain Glass Egypt is the largest and most modern float facility in the Middle East.
Production includes clear glass (SGG PLANILUX®), tinted glass (SGG PARSOL®) and online coated glass (SGG REFLECTASOL®) with solar control properties and appealing reflective aesthetics.
Ideally situated, the facility – at 140 million euro investments – supplies both the Egyptian and export markets.
