Four Egyptian universities were placed on the 2021 QS World University Rankings which reveal the top 1,000 universities from around the world, covering 80 different locations.
The four universities are the American University in Cairo (AUC), Cairo University, Ain Shams University and Alexandria University.
Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Lebanon took the lion’s share of Arab universities included on the QS World University Rankings.
The Saudi universities on the list comprise King Abdulaziz University, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, King Saud University, Umm Al Qura University, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (formerly known as the University of Dammam),King Khalid University, Prince Mohamad bin Fahd University, Islamic University of Madinah, King Faisal University and Princess Nourah Bint Abdul-Rahman University.
The UAE universities on the list included Khalifa University of Science and Technology, United Arab Emirates University, American University of Sharjah, American University in Dubai, University of Sharjah, Abu Dhabi University, Ajman University and Zayed University.
The list also included eight Lebanese universities; namely American University of Beirut, University of Balamand, Saint Joseph University of Beirut, Lebanese American University, Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Lebanese University, Notre Dame University – Louaize (NDU) and Beirut Arab University.
The list also comprised four Jordanian universities; University of Jordan, Jordan University of Science and Technology, German Jordanian University, and Princess Sumaya University for Technology.
Three Kuwaiti universities were also on the list; the American University in the Middle East, the Gulf University for Science and Technology, and Kuwait University.
Oman’s Sultan Qaboos University and the National University of Science and Technology were listed alongside Iraq’s University of Baghdad and University of Kufa.
The list also included Applied Science University of Bahrain and Qatar University.
The top 10 world universities of the 2021 QS World University Rankings are the Massachusetts Institute for Technology (MIT), Stanford University, Harvard University, California Institute of Technology, University of Oxford, ETH Zurich-Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, University Chicago, and ULC.

The 2021 QS World University Rankings included 47 new entrants to be among top 1,000 universities. Over 5,500 universities were evaluated and considered for inclusion.
