Fine Hygienic Holding (FHH), a world-leading wellness group and manufacturer of hygienic paper products and long-term germ protection solutions, has recently signed the “CEO Statement of Support for the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs),” an initiative by UN Women and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) that offers guidance to businesses on how to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace, and community.
The statement was signed by the group’s CEO, James Michael Lafferty.
By joining the WEPs community, FHH continues to build on its commitment to implementing business practices that empower women. These include equal pay for work of equal value, gender-responsive supply chain practices, and a zero-tolerance policy against any type of harassment in the workplace.
FHH is a recognized regional leader when it comes to supporting and empowering women in the workplace. The group provides numerous benefits to women across the company, including unrivaled maternity and paid menstrual leaves, exceptional workplace flexibility, and a wealth of professional support and mentorship designed to cultivate a working environment where women can thrive.
Commenting on the occasion, CEO of Fine Hygienic Holding (FHH) James Michael Lafferty said “I am a firm supporter of the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles, as I believe that organizations that embody these principles are not only demonstrating important values, but will undoubtedly achieve positive business outcomes as a result of these principles. At FHH, we have already put this commitment into action—and the results have been extraordinary. In particular, we are exceptionally proud of how we have empowered and promoted women into senior leadership roles: in a six-month period, we went from women without representation in senior leadership to women now holding 30 percent of such positions.”
“We welcome Fine Hygienic Holding as a signatory to the Women’s Empowerment Principles. The private sector is a key driver for growth and employment in Jordan with the scope to create meaningful impact on women’s inclusion in the labor market. UN Women is committed to working closely with the private sector in the country as an important partner to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment, which in turn offers businesses and communities to benefit from greater participation and leadership of women in the economy,” said Nicolas Burniat, Representative of UN Women in Jordan.
FHH has long been a trailblazer when it comes to supporting the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and its various development and sustainability goals: the company was the first paper mill in the region to become a signatory to the UNGC and is a founding member of the UNGC Jordan Network. The company also supports a wide range of women’s empowerment programs and initiatives; it is the platinum sponsor of Break the Ceiling, Touch the Sky, a global leading forum for women in leadership, and has received numerous awards for its commitment to supporting women in the workplace.
